I. Love. Hyper. Crush. They are in my top five favorite bands of all time, and now they are back to rock our faces off yet again. Preston, Holly, and Donny are the true combination to bring a smile to this face, and after you listen to this track, I'm sure it'll happen for you, too.
This song is a real club banger. It's been a hot minute since we've had a new track out of this trio, and "The Room" was well worth the wait. The group had taken a bit of a break from recording and was touring, and recently announced they would be releasing new music. This track is a bit of a departure from the sound of their most recent album Vertigo back in 2013.
As of now there is no accompanying information with the song. They simply dropped the track with very little notice (I'm talking less than 24 hours) and no other information. It is available to download for free at this time which suggest that this is not an "official" single, but they have pulled this stunt before with another track from their album Night Wave. There is also no indication on if they are going to release a full album at this time.
Until we have more info from the group, we will have to assume they are taking the new route of indie music where they release a string of singles instead of an album. Given that it's been two years since we've had a full on Hyper Crush single, and that Donny and Person are busy working on their side project MVTH, the future of Hyper Crush is still unclear.

Album Review: Hyper Crush "Vertigo"
OK, I'll admit it. I love Hyper Crush. I mean it should be obvious with as many times as I post about them (and how often I make it a point to say how sexy Preston is), but I thought I should point it out just in case you are incredibly dense and hadn't caught on. Not long ago they released their newest album Vertigo, and of course I've gotta review it!

Check Out Two Pre-Release Hyper Crush Tracks!
I was literally in the middle of writing a story about how Hyper Crush had released a track to get people excited about the new album Vertigo due out next week when they dropped another bomb. Oh, and by bomb, I mean track. That's right, including singles we now have four tracks from the new album and it's not even out yet. Let's check out both the title track "Vertigo" and "Illegal"!
I know I'll be reviewing these tracks next week, so I'll keep this short and sweet. The two tracks "Vertigo" and "Illegal" are both up on SoundCloud as exclusives for different blogs. Both of the songs are very addictive and show movement in the same direction as both "Visions of Coleco" and "Rage" have been. I can honestly say I'm excited for this album.
To be honest, I feel like "Illegal" is not the best track, but with the other three songs being so close to perfection it can almost be tasted, it's really hard to live up to it. With none of the other songs preview-able on iTunes, this is all we have to go on. I guess we will have to wait until Tuesday to get the full picture on what's going on with this release. Will there be any more misses or will it be an album full of hits?

Hyper Crush Gets Wet With "Rage" Video
I seriously think it's impossible for me to go very long without talking about Hyper Crush. Even with the limited time I've had lately, I've been keeping my eye out for this gem, as they've been promising it for a while now. Thank the heavens it is now been revealed. Mostly because I get to see Preston again. Shirtless. And wet. Let's move on before I embarrass myself.
What can I say about this video? It may not be their best effort for a clip, but I have to say they really look like they had a damn good time making this. Filmed in scenic Holly's back yard (is she loaded or what!?), the trio are hosts to a pool party where things get a little crazy, and more than once. We have a lot of diving, a lot of wet boobs, and a few cute boys thrown into the mix.
The thing that set me off a bit about this video is the product placement. We see Slurpee logos for 7/11 all throughout the video, and as one clever YouTube commenter noticed, they even tossed in some Flaming Hot Cheetos. But that's about it. No really, that is the only negative thing I have to say here. The video was on par with the song, and pretty much what I'd expected from the track. It wasn't something as crazy as "Bad Boyz" or as sleek and polished as "Visions of Coleco" but it works for what it is.
On the plus side, they have also announced a release date for their new album Vertigo. It will be out October 15, 2013. You can preorder it and check out the track listing now on iTunes.

Hyper Crush Is Back With "Rage"
Oh, Hyper Crush. I love you so much. It seems the more I fall in love with them, the more they give. Whether it's new music, new videos, or new side projects, these guys are always doing something. Now they've released their second single off of their upcoming new album. Yeah, it's f**kin' "Rage"!
I've been waiting for this track for a while. They'd been subtly teasing fans about this track since right after the video for "Visions of Coleco" came out. Holly dropped the name in my interview with her, and they posted a picture where with a caption saying they were arguing about how many times they should say the f-word in the new track. And now we have it.
By the way, the answer was they say it a LOT.
This song actually sounds a lot more like something you'd have on The Arcade as opposed to Night Wave. It's poppy, but in more of a bubble video game way as opposed to mainstream radio. The lyrics, however, are far from it. Holly keeps saying she wants a freak who can have sex to the song, and Donny wants to take a girl down to the pool to see her in her bikini. Though it's not confirmed, I can only assume the "woof"s in the background are Preston. I hope they are, anyway.
Sources say that a video is coming very soon for this track, but I couldn't hold off posting about it any longer. It's not exactly my favorite track they've released, but it is a great sound, and gives me hope that we will see many more styles of Hyper Crush past in this new album, due out this fall. Are you ready for Vertigo?
Buy the track now on iTunes.

Interview: Hyper Crush's Holly Valentine Tells All
It's not secret that every member of Hyper Crush is sexy as hell. Holly Valentine, the group's only lady, spins the whole "nerds are hot" bit back on women. Recently, she took time to speak with me about a few things including their major label experience, what it's like working with a panther as a costar, and she even reveals the names of some not-yet-announced material. That's right, bitches. They've got a new album coming our way.

Hyper Crush Side Project MVTH Has A New Video
Damn, that title is a mouthful. Basically, MVTH (which when printed on their merch seems to be a to be Delta in place of the V, making it look to be MATH) is a side project of Hyper Crush featuring only Donny and Preston. Why Holly isn't involved, the world may never know. Regardless, they've released their first video for the new single "F*ck".
The main difference between MVTH and Hyper Crush is that there are no vocals. Actually, that is pretty much the only difference. I am betting if they'd had some rapping and singing laid down on top of this beat, it could have passed easily for a HC song. The production values are the same, and the masterminds are present as well. I guess they just wanted another creative outlet for their music.
As far as the video goes, it feels close to a Hyper Crush video, too. I don't mean that because we are seeing Preston and Donny doing their thing, but because many elements of the recent HC videos have leaked over into this release. They are still armed with their hardcore shotguns and they seem to only be able to move in slow motion, much like in the video for "Visions of Coleco." What is different is that this video drops much of the sex appeal, and gives everyone just plain badassery.
"F*ck" doesn't have a clear plot. There are a lot of news clips and flashing imagery spliced into the footage, creating a sense of urgency. Most of the video, the duo is beating the crap out of something, but we never really get a clear shot as to what. For the rest of the time, they are riding around, watching their backs, armed with all sorts of guns. The way it was shot, using a sort of found-footage approach, makes it feel a lot like the Blair Witch movies.
It may not be the best video ever, but the song is catchy, and I love seeing Preston. I'm sure you know this by now.
The track is up on Beatport. Grab it now!

Hyper Crush Gives Us Visions (Of Coleco)
Hyper Crush has returned to us. There is a God! Ok, so it was bound to happen sooner or later, especially seeing as their last album did incredibly well for an independent label and they've been making music video after music video. Actually, they haven't really gone anywhere, but this is a new song. Just let me have this, damnit!
Everything about this video is sexy. Ever since "Maniac" the theme of Hyper Crush has been Sex Sells, and really that remains true. But what I can say is at least sex isn't everything they are about -- just their videos. And I'd also like to add that they do sex very well. With queen bee Holly Valentine fronting this new image backed by newly buff Donny and hunky Preston, they definitely have got that down pat.
As for "Visions of Coleco", the video is phenomenal. They feature a lot of animals, most prominently a panther that is incredibly adorable. I have to say their use of animals more in a nurturing sense as opposed to as exploitation is admirable. Plus did I mention that panther is adorable? Sadly, most of the focus is on the animals, leaving the video to not have a lot of action in it. It consists of a lot of slow motion shots of each member alone with little to no interaction with each other.
On a side note, this has only made my crush on Preston worse.
I have to say in all honesty that this song is not their best. It reminds me a lot of "Chead" and "The Foundation" from their latest album "Night Wave". There is not much focus on the lyrics, as they repeat themselves to a close to obnoxious amount, but instead on the beat. The beat itself isn't even their trademark electro-pop-rap they've become famous for, but is instead a more straight up electronic-house mesh that doesn't carry as wide of an appeal.
Is this video/song combo enough to derail me from loving Hyper Crush? Hell no. The video and song may not be their best, but that doesn't mean it's not top quality. The song is already confirmed as being a non-album single anyway, meaning that this may not have any influence on their next album. Even if they continue in this direction, I will still support them because they make quality music, and I still have enjoyed "Visions of Coleco" a great deal -- perhaps just not as much as some of their other tracks from their body of work.
You can grab the track from iTunes.

Hyper Crush Side Project MVTH + New Song Coming Soon
Hyper Crush is back, bitches. After taking a bit of a break, they are ready to jump back into action, and in more ways than one. Who is ready for more Hyper Crush action? This blogger is, and you should be, too.
First up, we have the announcement that Preston and Donny have decided to work on their own side project called MVTH. Unlike Hyper Crush, this project is focused on making club beats. No lyrics, just music. Recently, the released their first track called "Wide Body (Burn The Fire)", and it is already climbing up the Beatport charts where it was released exclusively.
While it's not exactly something I am overly into, I have a great amount of respect for all three of the members of Hyper Crush. I can also appreciate the song from a technical standpoint, as I have seen before how hard it is to produce a track. Being their first release I am willing to wait things out and see where this venture goes. You can listen to and buy the track here.
Meanwhile, the main group released this.
This video gives next to nothing away about the video, but it gives us a clean one minute chunk of the new song. "Visions of Coleco", a pun on the old school gaming system ColecoVision, is the new song and video coming from Hyper Crush later this month. It looks like for any more info on this release, we are going to have to wait until March 19.
No word yet on whether this will be the lead single to a new album or if it will simply be another promotional track like many of the singles released between their first and second albums.

2012's Biggest Misses: Hyper Crush Releases (Several) Videos
You'd think as hot as I find Preston from the group Hyper Crush that I would keep up with them better. The truth is I do, but I usually can't find a whole lot to say about them that isn't just about how incredibly sexy they all are. Seeing as it's a new year, I guess I should start it all off right, right? Well I missed these three videos, and it's abut damn time I talked about 'em!
"Bad Boyz" was one of my favorite tracks from the band's newest album "Night Wave." This video does it great justice in that it is completely batshit crazy. I mean this video makes next to no sense. It starts with Holly coming out of the computer in order to make Donny into a man, and from there it all spins out of control in the best way possible. They continuously lag across the screen (leaving copies of themselves overlapping each other as they do so), they dress up as ninjas, and there's even a tiger or two. It's completely green screened, which was something a lot of the fans seemed to hate. Others said they just don't "get" it, but really, I don't think there is anything to get. It's just the trio being crazy, business as usual.
This one is much more coherent than the previous video. Donny gets busted for smuggling a new drug called "Chead", and cops Holly and Preston interrogate him. My question is why couldn't I be frisked by Preston in a cop costume? The rest of the video consists of the two cops torturing Donny to try and get info out of him spliced with flashbacks of the club where he had used the drug. All I really have to say about this song is that it took one of my least favorite tracks from the album and made it truly enjoyable. Preston totally stole the show, and now all I can think about is his porn stache. Dear lord help me.
I am sad to say, but this is probably my least favorite Hyper Crush video to date. I mean, they look good, and the production is great, but it just didn't feel right. The only way I can describe the video is if Hyper Crush invaded the set of Animal House. At least my megacrush looks stunning. But when does he not?
It's obvious to anyone with a brain and an eye or two that Hyper Crush has come a long way since they left their record label. If anything, since leaving Universal Motown to found Night Wave Records, they have gotten far better. They've honed their sound and found a core audience. They have also found the right production team to make some visually impressive videos, with "Werk Me" being one of the best videos released this decade.

Album Review - Night Wave
Oh. My. God. I love Hyper Crush. So much. Never before has a band managed to keep my attention so long. I have taken up stalking them recently, and tweeting them constantly. Did I mention I love them? This album is just what I needed in my life right now: Nonsensical techno-babble. God yes. Shall we get on with it before I make a bigger idiot of myself?

Video Review - Werk Me
If you don't love Hyper Crush, we can't be friends. This group is the epitome of what pop needs to be. Electronic, experimental, and fun, this trio knows how to get it done. Their newest video, "Werk Me" hit the web this week, and let me tell you, if you don't like glitter or asses, you probably shouldn't watch.

Hyper Crush "Night Wave" Preview
I am confident that Hyper Crush is one of the greatest bands of all time. They have just the right amount of cockiness and attitude to back up their sick music, as well as having one of the hottest chicks ever as their lead singer (Ok, so they are all attractive in their own way). "Night Wave" is going to be their first album out in a long time. They recently announced a release date, and now they've brought us a video with a whole lot more info.
(Warning: Lots of cursing)
Hyper Crush are calling their fans to go out and buy the album. They have given out a lot of free tracks in the past (I remember getting "Maniac" for free from their site when it first came out) and now they are asking for everyone who has supported them to spend just eight dollars on iTunes and preorder it. This video offers some enticing tidbits for you to pre-order it, too.
First up, they sample random bits of songs. Only a couple of the songs have identifiable lyrics to them ("Chrome Pipes" "Cheap Thrills" and "Bad Boyz" are the only ones I could make out). The songs were lower quality because it was being played on their computer and recorded by an external camera, so no HQ previews yet, but what was heard was impressive. Call me crazy, but I'm pretty sure I heard some dubstep in there. I'm going to try and not be scared by that.
If you do preorder the album on iTunes and send the band a picture of your receipt, they will send you a physical copy of the album. I, for one, am taking them up on this offer. I love holding a disk in my hands as opposed to the new digital age, so any time I can swipe up a physical copy of anything I'm digging, I go for it.
The last small tidbit in the video was a few shots of what the video is going to look like for "Werk Me". For not being on a major label, their video is going to be totally amazing. I mean did you see Holly's ass? Ok, I think I might be turning straight. I've heard of pop music making someone feel gayer, but straighter? This is all too new for me. I need to take a break before I loose my mind.
Preorder "Night Wave" on iTunes. If you do, they'll send you a physical copy. No joke.February 7. 2012. Done now.

Top Five Pop Divas I Would (Probably) Go Straight For (Maybe)
The time has come again for yet another pointless top five list from your favorite blogger. In case you haven't gathered this yet, I am gay as hell. I can hit on male artists all day long, but it's rare that I hit on the ladies. I feel I am comfortable enough in my sexuality to make a list of the top five hotties of pop. Plus, it's way more interesting than a top five hot guys of pop (it would be five entries of Space Cowboy).
5. Nadia Oh
5. Nadia Oh
Speaking of Spacey, anyone notice how hot his protege is? I have been a fan of Nadia since she started releasing music. I remember the insane rumors about her being a computer generated image (and looking back at some of the early press shots of her, I don't blame people) but lately, she has proved them all wrong by releasing a video for almost every song she's ever recorded ever. Joking aside, I really do think this lady is very attractive, and her Miss Kittin-esque music only helps further her as a standout in my mind. Keep werkin it, sexy bitch.

Hyper Crush Confirms Night Wave
After announcing the new album a while back, no other solid news has come around about the album. Earlier today, the group has finally announced a release date for "Night Wave", and even given us a glimpse into what the album is going to be like. Oh and there's this album cover here.
As if I didn't have enough of a crush on Preston already? And he wears a Misfits shirt for the photoshoot? Dear lord this man wants me to obsess over him, doesn't he? All joking aside, it is very nice to finally see the trio on the cover of one of their works as opposed to asses or Obama (I think). They are actually pretty attractive, and its good to get to know them, especially now that they are growing wildly in popularity.
The release date for the album is February 7, making the first quarter of 2012 an orgasm for the ears, especially since other amazing dance-pop acts are releasing material at this time. You can pre-order the album on iTunes, where in you will notice the tracklisting as well. The songs are as follows:
As if I didn't have enough of a crush on Preston already? And he wears a Misfits shirt for the photoshoot? Dear lord this man wants me to obsess over him, doesn't he? All joking aside, it is very nice to finally see the trio on the cover of one of their works as opposed to asses or Obama (I think). They are actually pretty attractive, and its good to get to know them, especially now that they are growing wildly in popularity.

Missing from the list is a song called "Acid House" that is apparently a fan favorite from the live performances. No word yet on why it has been left out. Sadly, you cannot preview the tracks on iTunes for the pre-order, but knowing Hyper Crush, we will be getting a taste of what the album will be like very soon.

Hyper Crush Announces New Album!
Not long ago, Hyper Crush announced to the world that they are wrapping up the final touches on their new album, to be titled "Night Wave". No release date is set, but it certainly has me excited. You didn't know I was a fan of Hyper Crush? Probably because I haven't blogged about them before. Why, you ask? Well, mostly because I just realized they released an actual single for Maniac, and the video fell on a bad time for me. REGARDLESS OF THIS, I still love them to death. They are hilarious and fun. What more could you ask for?
Though I'm not too impressed with the cover (perhaps its just a place holder?) what I am excited about is what they decided to say about the album. Apparently they have announced that around 80% of the album is going to be new material. This means that either they are releasing a huge album, or that one or more of the six singles released in the past year will not be on the album. I sincerely hope Keep Up, their number one song on iTunes, is on the album.
One thing you can expect from these guys is that every single one of the songs will be catchy. I can't think of a single song they have released that I haven't found to be a fun and dancey track. Hopefully the album will be released in the very near future. I'll do my best to keep you all updated as soon as I receive info!
