Ari Gold As Gold Nation Rocks It With Album "Soundtrack To Freedom"

A while back, beloved New York LGBT scene staple Ari Gold decided it was time to shake things up. He found it was time to do something different, and with that he brought on a new name. For this project he goes by Gold Nation, and as Gold Nation, he is bringing you Soundtrack to Freedom. Get into it, and quick.

There are so many surprising things about this album. I had no idea what to expect going into this, and let me tell you I was pleasantly surprised. There are so many undiscovered gems on this release it's not even funny. It's style may be a bit hard to swallow for those who have come to love Ari over the years, but the new name is very symbolic of the break away from the past, and allows people to approach the album with fresh ears to hears something unexpected -- and that is certainly what he has brought.

The title track "Soundtrack to Freedom" really sets up the whole album. We get a nice taste of the electronic/dubstep vibe that flows throughout the album. It also introduces us to the chorus that accompanies Gold, giving the techno-focused album a very gospel inspired tone, almost as if this album is the Gospel of Ari Gold (which would be a cool album title, by the way). The gospel theme continues on into songs like "Personal Apocalypse" where he goes from saying Jesus is all of us, to damn near starting a church for Oprah. I don't know if it was intentionally hilarious or not, but it was.

Songs on this album are also very misleading with their track names. When I think of something like "Take Your Shirt Off" I think of a trashy club anthem to buffed up pretty boys. This isn't really what Gold was going for here. During the verses he goes into a spill about how it's more about LGBT visability, for everyone from hairy chub boys to transsexuals. Everyone needs visibility, and for this reason this is probably my favorite track from the entire work.

One thing I really appreciate is that the vast majority of the album is Ari on his own with only one (real) feature. "Back In High School" features Adam Joseph in a total throwback to 90's RnB. But other than that the only other features on the album (in "Turn Out The Night" and "Leave The World Changed") are featuring non other than Ari himself. While this baffles me a bit, I'd have to say it's probably because he falls back moreso into his older style of singing in these two songs, so he decided to credit his other persona. It's unclear why this decision was made. Either way the lack of features really gives us a moment to see Ari's vision. We don't have random distracting rap verses crammed into a track or a familiar face to up sales -- it's all Ari and what he wanted to make. That's what really makes this album beautiful.

There is so much you could say about this album, but instead of me blabbing on, why not check it out for yourself? Soundtrack To Freedom is out now on iTunes from JRED Music. Get it now, while it's still steaming hot!

Ari Gold's New Album "Soundtrack To Freedom" Is Up For Preorder!

It looks like Ari Gold is back in the mix of it. We've already told you that he has been working under a new name, Gold Nation, and that his debut single "Sex Like A Porn Star" came out not long ago. Now he's ready to drop an awesome album on us, but you'll have to wait just a bit longer.

First off let it be known that during his hiatus, he obviously didn't stop working on the body. It's as hot as it's ever been! But we're here to talk about music, right? So let's get onto that.

The Artist Formerly Known As Sir Ari Gold is about to drop a fantastic album on us, and I, for one, cannot wait for this one. If "Sex Like A Pornstar" was anything like the rest of the album, then we have some very exciting tracks ahead of us. With names like "Take Your Shirt Off" and "Personal Apocalypse" it looks like he had a pretty good time piecing this together.

Soundtrack To Freedom is a bit different from what you've heard from Ari in the past. It is from a more musical aspect, giving less focus on lyrics and singing and more attention to the production values. This work has a more club feel to it, and is worked as a conceptual album, meaning that all the songs will work cohesively, feeling like a complete work when listened through.

We have just a little less than a month to wait, with Soundtrack To Freedom coming out August 7. Preorder it now on iTunes, brought to you by the wonderful and diverse JRED Music.

Ari Gold Returns As Gold Nation With New Dance Single

It's been a hot minute since we've heard anything out of New York music scene staple Ari Gold. Apparently he's been hard at work with new music, but this time there's something just a little different -- and it's not just the name. Ari is ready to bring you his new conceptual project Gold Nation and his first single under the new pseudonym, "Sex Like A Porn Star".

Can we stop for a second and appreciate this cover? I mean, Ari has always looked good, but he can even look good as a cheesy 70's porn actor. That takes talent, because next to nobody looked good in that era. I guess the abs help. And the mustache. A little.

Anyway, "Sex Like A Porn Star" is a deep house track, a bit of a departure for those who are used to the music Sir Gold has been pumping out over the past few years. While it's not exactly everyone's cup of tea, it certainly is something to get people up and dancing, and certainly going to be a fun hit for the clubs across the country. The name change, linked to the style change, was an effort to distinguish this new project from past releases. It's a risky move, but it looks like it's paying off.

Unfortunately at this time there is no word if there will be a music video released any time soon. Can you imagine the hilarious and sexy antics this guy could get into with a video to a song that sounds the way it does and is named what it is? Ari does seem to be hard at work making sure this project takes flight, so it would seem that a music video would be the next logical step.

Ari is planning an entire conceptual album around this new sound he has found and the name Gold Nation. He is working exclusively with JRed Music to produce his new album Soundtrack To Freedom, release date TBA. For now, you can grab the single on iTunes featuring the single and various remixes for artists such as Lucius Lowe, Jared Jones, and more!
