Reality TV Review: RHNJ Season Five Episode 3

Hey look! I'm actually following through with something for once! I know it's shocking, but you'll have to keep yourselves together. I mean it's Drag Race downtime and I have next to no regularly scheduled weekly events any more, so why not show my New Jersey girls some love? This week the drama gets a little heavier, and I have to say that I'm re-re-rediscovering why I love this show so much. Let's see what happens!

We start out to learn that Gia's 12th birthday party is coming up. It's going to be co-ed and this worries everyone. Teresa sent her brother an invitation, but she's gotten no response. I'm sure this shocks nobody. Instead of going to see Joe's response, they cut to Jacqueline and Caroline.

She has gotten her son a special bed that zips up for her son to possibly help his condition. As much as she annoys me when it comes to the drama, I love the lengths she goes to help her son. That bed had to be expensive, and she has to go in with him, so it's encouraging.

The topic shifts to Teresa as always. Jacqueline instantly says she hates Teresa and doesn't care if she apologizes. I mean really? And then she calls out Carloine (off screen in an interview) for always butting into people's business. Say it to her face, please?

Caroline lays into Joe to tell him all about last episode's meeting with Teresa. As bad as this sounds, I think this may be doing some good. She lied about some her needing an apology, but it may be for the best. The only thing I don't like is she's playing the dying father card still for both of them.

As a special treat for me, we get more Kathy time. Her son and Rosie have swiped the Ferarri. He has some trouble driving, and the parents are not happy what so ever. This kid is in some serious trouble, but after a brief bit, it seems only Kathy is mad. It causes a huge fight between her and Kathy.

Let's get one thing straight: I love Teresa -- delusions and all -- but there's something about the things she says that bugs me and this episode is a great example. She said she got a call at 3am that her dad was in the hospital. Then she said she always drops everything that minute and goes to him. It's very obviously NOT 3am when she's driving to the hospital on the show. Suspicious, isn't it? Just keep it real. Her brother Joe happens to be sick, too, which means he can't go to the hospital to see him.

As a side note, it is funny that Melissa is the only one who finds it weird that Caroline is talking to Teresa again. And she's getting a little jealous that she's in her husband's business, too. She begs him to go to Gia's party but he refuses. I smell a fight brewing.

Kathy goes tot he gym with Melissa, and after hearing her "Oh, I'm sick" appeal, she isn't buying it. Kathy is the best judge of character on the show, and is pretty much the new Caroline in regards to being the mother of the group now that Caroline has become a bit of a bully from time to time.

Back with Team Teresa, she meets with her buddy Kim D to tell her that her dad made it through the night. She says that all she wants is her brother to be at the party. Oh, the editing on this show! Teresa's friend calls her to tell her that Melissa, Kathy, and Jacqueline are there. This instantly makes Teresa think they are stalking her or something. She says Jacqueline has motives. It also brings her to say that Melissa is being fake for going to the gym instead of the hospital.

Caroline's house guest now has a pig at her house. Luckily, she has another apartment in the city so she won't have to run into it. She devises a plan to hide it from her husband. It was interesting, but also distracting.

The party she's thrown Gia is a huge dance party. It looks like a freaking night club. Teresa questions the kids what  BFFL is, and suspects this guy is her boyfriend not her best friend. Funny right?

Kathy clears things up about the comment she made at last seasons reunion calling Teresa's dad a coward. She said she was trying to clear the air with him, but he didn't want to hear it, so instead of going to see him in the hospital this time, she just sends the kids. This is something else Teresa will probably bring up.

As predicted, even though she has no kids, Kim D shows up at Gia's party. Linda shows up as well, but they haven't said if she has any children. They all three start talking trash about Melissa, and in she walks. She says that she went to see her father-in-law at the hospital, which freaks out Teresa who thinks she's lying. Queue the fighting!

Melissa got her days mixed up, and Teresa hopped on that fact. She also says her father said Melissa never came. They start yelling at each other. I mean come on, this is a kid's birthday party. Don't be like that, guys. Melissa says they need to stop it, and when Gia shows up, Teresa says there should be no fighting, even though she is the one that started it all.

Melissa leaves in a long dramatic scene. Honestly I don't know who to side with. It was immature to start a fight on Teresa's part, but it was also immature on Melissa's part to take off and force her kids to leave the party.
