Apres Ski Season 1 Episode 6 [Review]

How can you really explain Apres Ski? It falls into that weird space with Below Deck where the episodes are split between dealing with the clients and the drama. I really wish the clients were in the background, because this drama is so good! Don't believe me? Get a taste of what's going on in my new review below.

The episode started out with another sequence of Elise crying. She always seems to be yelling or crying, and it's becoming a little overwhelming. She said she had reached her breaking point, and to be honest I think I've reached mine with her, too. Tamara warned them all before she left the meeting that big changes would be in store if they didn't get their collective acts together. I guess that means somebody is going to get fired. We can only hope it will be Elise.

Turned out Lyndsy was going to be gone this week, but she wasn't the only one. Kendra said she had to skip town the next week due to a death in her family. Her grandmother, whom she was very close with, passed away. It was sad to see Kendra reminisce about her grandmother, talking about how she was the one who shaped her into the fashionista she is today. I haven't been the biggest fan of Kendra thus far, but she's growing on me a bit. She has definitely come the furthest in the group.

What wasn't sad, however, was how warm the group was to her when the heard the news. Even though they've had their differences with her, they all hugged her and comforted her. Well, almost everyone gave her a hug. She didn't get anything from Elise, who was giving her the cold shoulder for not having her back. I'm sorry but that is extremely petty. Elise is far too emotional and is unable to separate work relationships from personal ones, and with one fell swoop, she pretty much lost her only friend in the group.

I really didn't care much for the segments with the guests this week. They were kind of boring and we only had one set as opposed to the usual two. What was even more annoying is that nothing really happened with them. They took her skiing with an Olympic medalist and then set her up on a blind date. While this sounds like it could have made for a good show, it ended up being a tad boring.

Thankfully, not he drama side of things, it looked like Tamara wasn't kidding around when she said that something was going to be done about the group. She met with everyone one on one to discuss where they felt the problem was. Of course they all kept the solidarity to say that Elise was the problem. Things did get a tad awkward when Tamara put Jim on the spot asking if he wanted to run the company. Even though he said yes, Tamara was very skeptical.

Tamara wasn't the only person who was skeptical. Bobby eventually got wind that Jim was trying to usurp him and take over the company and he wasn't happy. I wish they would have delved more into this thread line, but it may be being saved for later. Bobby is one of my favorites, and he really would be a better manager than Jim in my opinion. Char had his back, of course, but why wouldn't she. She's such a sweetheart, but a bit too much of a follower for my tastes.

Now we have to deal with Elise. She went pretty overboard this week in a plethora of ways, so it may take just a bit. First off, she signed her own pink slip when Tamara called her in for a meeting with Joey and herself. Tamara gave her the opportunity to defend herself seeing as Joey has only heard Jim's side of things. Unfortunately she's an idiot and blew it completely by turning on Tamara, who has had her back the whole time.

Why in the world would she turn on Tamara? This woman has been on her side the whole time. She has really lost it hasn't she? Elise brings up that Tamara was not only absent for two weeks, but also that she undermined her in front of the crew. To be honest, I think Tamara is an amazing worker and good at mediating the insane group of people she has. I'm not sure if she knew what she was in for when she agreed to be on reality tv, but she's handing it beautifully.

Another bridge that Elise burned was with Kendra. Not only did she not comfort her with the loss of her grandmother, but she also invited her out to yell at her the day she was to fly out. Elise is really coming off as a heartless bitch on this show. I have no idea if that's what she's like in real life, but I feel bad for those who are around her. Kendra was really devastated and in no mood to be griped out for someone calling her a fake friend. I really found this to be tasteless to the max.

As if there wasn't enough crap to put on Elise's tombstone for Whistler, she gets called into the office at Tamara's at the very end of the episode. Therein, we see the fakest apology of all time. She was basically just trying to save her job last minute, and I'm not sure if it's going to work. Well at least I hope it doesn't work because she's annoying me at this point.

I really am enjoying this show, but it's getting a bit too crazy for me. It's so hard to figure out who likes who and who is about to kill who. I guess that makes for good tv, but in the end, this is a business and I feel so bad for Joey and Tamara because the crazy manager is almost running the whole operation into the ground. Let's hope for the sake of the amazing concierges that the business stays afloat. Could the answer be getting rid of Elise?
