Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills Season 5 Episode 7 [Review]

It's time for the last Real Housewives episode of 2014! Are you ready for it? Sadly it doesn't exactly knock anything out of the park, but it does bring into focus some of the less seen women of the group, so that's a plus, right? You guessed it. More Brandi. More Kim. More awesome. Let's get into this party-filled episode, shall we?

This episode wastes no time with showing the ladies at home and jumps right into Brandi's housewarming party. I honestly though this was going to be disastrous, as this show has a history of the ladies causing major drama at parties. Fortunately, for the most part, the party was pretty drama free. All of the cast members showed up one by one to see their way around Brandi's new house.

And them Lisa Vanderpump showed up. Everyone was shocked to see her, but thankfully she had went in with a mentality of mending fences and didn't cause any trouble. She actually spoke with Brandi quite a bit. The thing I don't like is Brandi's puppy dog approach to being friends with Lisa. Instead of acting like a grown woman sometimes she acts very childish or wounded like she is going to win her back by way overcompensating. That's not the rout to go, hon.

Another surprise guest was Adrienne. At the beginning of the season Brandi had gotten to an understanding with her, so it wasn't too awkward. Adrienne did bring her handsome 20-something boyfriend along with her, which I think sort of solidified their friendship in an awkward way, seeing as Brandi has the hots for the young guys, too. Maybe we will see the return of Adrienne full time now that she's back to her old self after the nasty divorce.

The awkward meter kept rising, however, when Brandi had Lisa V speak with her parents. Lisa got the inside scoop on why Brandi is the way she is, and everything got really weird. Let's hope this doesn't come up again.

We have a brief intermission between the two parties of the episode that focus on a few of the housewives. We get to see Eileen doing some kind of strange paddle surfing, wherein she admits that she loved donuts. This lady deserves my heart. It's yours, Eileen. And then we get Kyle nagging literally everyone in her family for something or another. She keeps saying she doesn't want them to be spoiled rich people, but that's what they are. Embrace it. Deal with it. Live it.

Lisa R got the most attention in this short break. She went on to guest-host Access Hollywood. She has been doing this for years (I knew she looked familiar) and she got nominated for the ice bucket ALS challenge. It was sweet to see her step out of the normal to do something for charity, but that trend has died down since the taping of the show, so it's impact isn't as strong as when it first aired on Access Hollywood earlier this year. The production gap really shows here, reminding us all that this is all said and done, and has been for months.

Finally, we have Lisa V's charity event. Again, I was certain that things would end up horrible, but honestly nothing big happened. Brandi and the gang all showed up, including the two new housewives, and other than Brandi's strange olive branch metaphor and Yolanda getting annoyed yet again over Lisa V's shade of not inviting her to things, it all went pretty well. Brandi even got Lisa V to agree to go out to lunch with her. Bravo lady.

Just stop offering your cunnilingus services to everyone. Kim is not amused.

The only even slightly negative part of the episode was after the fund raiser, they had a girl meeting without Lisa V, who had to deal with opening her restaurant, wherein the two newbies, Lisa R and Eileen, probed the group about the Vanderpump drama. All of the women were very careful with their words and made sure they didn't say much of anything that could be used as a negative soundbyte. I feel like they are all finally seeing how the things they say can be cut up or misplaced to sound mean or hurtful, and are making a conscious effort to be more cordial.

This episode really proved that these women can be civilized when they really try. I know that Lisa V and Brandi could have snapped. I know that Lisa V and Yolanda could have snapped. I know that Lisa V and Kyle could have snapped (notice a pattern?). It really looks like Ms. Vanderpump is putting her best foot forward. Sure she has a really hard time forgiving, but so do a lot of people, and I'm beginning to see past the purposeful editing to make her look negative and see what's really going on here.

It was also nice to see Kim looking so good! I get so worried, with her past experiences, whens he goes to these parties with everyone drinking. I don't want her to go down those paths again. She looks so beautiful and healthy, and she's so funny now, too.

Having two drama-free parties really proved that these ladies are moving in the right direction. Hopefully we will get some kind of resolve soon and get the status quo from two years ago back.
