Reality TV Review: RHNJ Season Five Episodes 8 + 9

So I skipped last week. So what? These two episodes went pretty hand-in-hand, so I'm not feeling too bad about it, and it meant that I got to cover the full story instead of just half of it. I can say it was a crazy roller coaster, but it ended on a positive note. After two seasons of nothing but catfights, things are starting to look up -- and for real this time. Let's hope things stay this way. I mean, it's reality tv, but it's also these peoples' lives. Here's to wishing for the best!

Oh yeah. The last episode ended with them fighting. We didn't get to see any action last week because of it cutting to black. Joe called his sister scum, making Teresa's Joe mad. He storms in and BAM they run at each other like animals. I'm not sure who won, but I know it was a Joe. Haha. Get it?

The dust starts to settle, Teresa is still pissed as hell and wants to leave. Melissa is aging it all on because she thinks Teresa should have jumped in the middle of the fight. Teresa, walking out the door, thinks that her brother likes the drama. I kind of think so, too.

At least we got to see Melissa's Joe take his shirt off again. Second time this season!

Then we get about fifteen minutes bouncing back and forth between Teresa and Melissa bitching about how awful both of them are. Meanwhile, Kathy is just worried about her nose job. Poor Kathy. I love you so much.

Rich decides to get into the middle of the mess this time. He says that by telling her husband she caused all of this. He would have found out eventually and been just as pissed. Rich challenges Teresa to go tell her brother she loves him, right then and there. When she tries, Melissa won't leave the room to let them talk. What the hell?

Suddenly we are reminded that the team builders haven't left. Well this is awkward. They tell them that the fact that they are here means that on some level, they all want to work it out.

Today we learned that Teresa is unable to wink. Ok then.

So Teresa hops on the phone and SURPRISE! She's calling Caroline. I like that the two of them are reconnecting, even if it's not exactly on a deep level like before. It looked hopeless for the two last year, but things are looking up. She tells Caroline about the fight and asks if she could possibly get through to him. She begs her to come up to the retreat, and she agrees. Holy crap! More Caroline! YAY!

I really hope this is the thing that finally reconnects Teresa and Caroline. Those two used to be best friends and then it all went down the drain.

Soon enough the eccentric looking Doctor V comes in. She talks to the doctor, and she said that a lot of what Teresa says gets misinterpreted. She says that at some point, she's got to look at herself and wonder what she's doing wrong to make people think what they do about her.

They all sit down at breakfast to discuss things, and Rich immediately starts in on how Teresa started it. Then Melissa starts in. Then Teresa starts in. Then it's a mess again. Doctor V decides to take them all on one on one to see that it's not one person's fault, but everyone's.

Doctor V sets Melissa's Joe down, and he goes into it and explains how horrid his sister is. Her theory is that Teresa is in her own head, trying to make the best decisions for her brother. He tells the doctor he's done and doesn't even want to try any more. The doctor brings up Teresa so he can explain his feelings to her. He chickens out and says instead that he doesn't want to fight any more and just needs time.

Then, awkwardly enough, Caroline appears. She's greeted with smiles and hugs from everyone. Seems nobody can hate on the Manzo mama.

The episode ends on a tense note, where the doctor suggests they spend more time together just the two of them. This make Teresa erupt in tears because she wants the entire family together. Joe comforts his sister by hugging her and sharing a good old fashioned cry with her.

EPISODE NINE

The "last time on" segment featured a ton of complaining about Jacqueline. I wonder if she's going to be involved in this episode?

Next up, the doctor decides to move Melissa into the fray. She wants to get her perspective on the situation. Before they, we get an interesting situation where Caroline thought Melissa was wrong. Hell yes!

Melissa instantly lays in playing the victim. This is getting very old. She says that Teresa is doing all the wrong, and says she's done nothing wrong. Doctor V put it best. Melissa wants to be in conflict. She wants the drama. She complains about Kim D, which I agree with, but she's saying it's Teresa's fault. Melissa completely shuts down and won't take any of the doctor's advice.

Then we get another ten minutes of Melissa being a martyr. Boohoo.

Then Melissa and Teresa hug. Oh my. Just when things are starting to look their most hopeful in literally seasons, they bring in Teresa's Joe. This could end badly. He starts in by insulting Joe 2. Thankfully, Joe 1 was playing nice and apologized for things he didn't think he did. Teresa teared up. I teared up. It was beautiful.

Doctor V takes off, and Kathy is immediately upset. She wanted to talk to her about some tihngs with Teresa, and immediately feels unimportant. It's sad because I love me some Kathy. She takes the opportunity to bring up the disputes they've had at the table to try and get her feelings out. Teresa upfront apologized. I think Kathy was expecting a fight, because she was taken aback by the apology and the discussion ended quickly.

Oh yeah, Jacqueline exists. I almost forgot. It was so nice without her last episode. She gets a phone call from Jacqueline. She immediately thinks Caroline is stupid, which may start to drive a wedge between the two of them. She says she doesn't want chaos, she wand Buddha, and points to a shirt that isn't Buddha. Ok then. Your move.

The boys (and Rosie) go ice fishing. I'm sure that drama is going to ensue. It always does. Overall the fishing segment was boring. At home, the girls decide to cook. Teresa and Kathy have a good time. Melissa argues. The boys start arguing over who won the fight. Oh lawd.

Damn, Melissa is getting really wasted. She's sitting next to Rosie, making pervy jokes. The more I see of Melissa, the more I can't stand her. I started out loving her, but now I am not feeling it. Soon dinner is served, and Kathy gets rammed by Melissa. There was a depressing moment where Joe admits he misses his friend Chris (Jacqueline's husband) because they used to be best friends. He even brought a wine they made together because he thought they would attend.

The group is totally drunk by this point, and playing the falling game. Rich even hardcore groped Rosie's boobs. Ok then. The rest of them decide to play the trust fall game, which isn't the best idea to do in front of a fire place. Lit or not. Melissa's job is to catch Teresa's joe. That was amusing, seeing as Melissa was totally drunk. Next Caroline had to catch Teresa. She said the only way she'd do it is if one day she would do it with Jacqueline. Reluctantly Teresa agrees. It looks like she may way to fix this after all.
