Apres Ski Season 1 Episode 4 [Review]

Sorry for the delay! Due to the recent Thanksgiving holiday I have been a bit overbooked in a few areas. I have been dealing with a few things in my personal life and haven't been able to deliver the new reviews in a timely manner. While Below Deck is done (sans the reunion episodes that I'm unsure if I'll cover), Apres Ski is still going full force, and it's about time I get the ball rolling on this one again. Are you ready for the drama of it all?

Note: The holiday hiatus will hopefully end next week with the beginning of RHOBH and WONY, but it as of yet has not been officially decided. Reviews will continue on their regular schedule.

This this week were incredibly tense. Last week we had Elise's huge blowup wherein she called (or maybe rather "alluded") that Bobby was being racist by choosing his best friend over Kendra. Bobby outright asked Kendra if she felt he was racist, to which she said no. Her confessional seemed to suggest that she wasn't being completely honest. She really did seem to try and be more of a team player this go around.

Elise was really on edge the entire time they are discussing the guests for this episode. They had two groups, one of which was looking for thrills (which was given to Bobby and Char) and a group that wanted to do a photoshoot (with Kendra who chose Jim as her sidekick). Elise seemed to be on her best behavior while the others were around just in case they were still bitter about what had happened the day before.

Bobby took matters into his own hands by going to Tamara about what happened. Tamara is a very level headed person, and took everything into consideration. Bobby remained pretty calm about the whole ordeal and got a promise from her to talk to Elise about all of it. When she finally did meet with Elise later in the episode, it was clear that they probably picked the wrong person to be in charge of this group of people. Elise does not grasp how to be a professional what so ever, and was even showing her true colors to the one person who could fire her. That was a really bad mood if I must say so.

It's worth noting that Lyndsy was far more present in this episode. For staters she was the only one with even half a brain while they were gathered around the computer talking to the clients. Elise kept trying to talk over the client because she has no idea what a video delay is. I guess the city girl had no idea that not all internet in the mountains is high speed. She was also the one who continuously pointed out (and was shot down multiple times) for saying the guests mentioned they wanted to go on the slopes to snow board.

Lyndsy is someone who I wasn't sure if I liked at the beginning of the show. She showed up late, and was gone for an entire episode, so she had a lot of catching up to do with the rest of the cast. Thankfully she is very smart and fun, and in this episode she certainly made up for lost time. She was a big help in getting things moving with the guy who was scared of being on the zip line, and she eventually stole the second group of clients away at the end to make sure they got to go down the slopes like they wanted.

To be blunt -- Lyndsy needs to be featured more in this show. She's the true underdog of the season, and I've grown to love her very much. I feel like she is the only one who hasn't taken the helm completely on something, or at least she hasn't been prominently featured until now. Maybe it's because she's very chill and drama free. Who knows? But she needs more screen time for sure.

And then there's Jim. He got a lot of screen time this week, and did a complete flip mid episode, too, but we will get to that later. For the most part of this week's episode, he was more or less the peace keeper. He really didn't have much to do with the drama between Elise and Bobby because he had left, and he really seemed to not take a side in the matter, saying both that Elise was a bit hot headed and that Bobby needed to remain professional at work.

It was cute to see that he was so welcoming of Kendra. She had been working on trying to mend things with the group for the past couple weeks, and it finally seemed to start paying off. Kendra is finally starting to see how bad of a person Elise can be and is gravitating towards the others, more specifically Jim. He is definitely much nicer to than the rest of the group is so far, but after this week I could easily see her getting closer to them all.

Then at the end of the episode, Jim flips completely. Instead of being the lovable nice guy, he gets very fed up with Elise. After she ignored them when they first got there and then pretended to be way too happy and apologizing to them all for her actions, Jim flat out told her he didn't believe her. He felt her apologies were hollow and she was an overall fail.

This sent Elise into a massive downward spiral of yelling and blaming her problems on everyone else. She kept saying Jim had problems with females in power. Once again Elise pulls imaginary problems out of her ass and is so unclear where she gets these ideas from, and this one was even more farfetched than saying someone was racist. I mean really? Where does this come from? I've officially given up on Elise. She's a lost cause.

The show is finally getting good. I wish I could have covered this on the day it aired instead of so much later. It is becoming one of the better shows on Bravo. I am glad this one got the green light, and hopefully they will get a season two. But since it doesn't have the Real Housewives title to back it up, the future of the show is a bit up in the air.

Hell if Below Deck can get not two extra seasons but also a spinoff, then Apres Ski fares a pretty good shot. Please, Andy, don't let me down with this one!
