RuPaul's Drag Race Season 7 Episode 7 [Review]

Let me catch my breath for a moment here. This episode is hilarious, depressing, and over everything else exhausting. For those who have been saying that season seven is boring I present them with this season's Snatch Game (and remind them how floptacular season five was). For all the haters and the doubters out there, I think the girls of season seven have really stood up and proven they have the right to be where they are. 'Cmon season seven!

Post-Elimination the girls are all reading Kennedy and her awful look on the runway. She looked pretty terrible for last week's challenge, so everyone is looking at her to go home. They also talk about Max looking the same week after week with her grey hair. I call it a signature. Whatever.

We get a message from Bianca Del Rio telling the girls that they need to be funny, and slowly the room realizes what they are about to embark on. When the words "Snatch Game" come out of Ru's mouth the whole room looses it's mind. They are all excited, and after seven years, it looks like some of them actually came into the game prepared for a change. You go, season seven!

Quickly we find out that two girls, Fame and Violet, are wanting to do the same character. They both go after Donatella Versace. Why, though? She's not exactly a comedian. Well at first Fame gives it up to Violet, but after a pep talk from Ru, she decides that backing down is for losers and decides to go for it. Elsewhere, the other girls are all putting things together. Kennedy wants to do Little Richard, but after the Milk fiasco last year, the girls urge her not to do male drag. Even Ru seems iffy on the whole situation.

In a dramatic and shocking turn of events, Violet backs down from her confrontation with Miss Fame after a talk with RuPaul. Ru sees the potential for a good Alyssa Edwards impression, and Violet realizes that Ru's advice is crucial to winning. Oddly, Katya isn't doing a Russian character. She says she's scared that people will see what she's best at and have the world see her fail. Ru suggests maybe she's addicted to anxiety.

The Snatch Game was crazy! I can't remember the last time I was this satisfied with the Snatch Game. Usually the way they edit is to highlight the obvious winner and three or four of the obvious bottom people. Instead this year we got a lot of awesomeness. We got to see everybody shine for the most part. Ginger KILLED as Adele and managed to make her funny. Violet shined through as Alyssa, and even if she fell flat mid way through, Jaidynn's Raven was pretty funny for the first couple of jokes.

The shining stars here were Katya as Suze Orman, Pearl as Big Ang, and Kennedy as Little Richard. Yes. Her idea of boy drag really worked out well. All three of these ladies (?) were super funny and held the attention of the audience. I really don't want to go too into the jokes and what was said exactly, because that is the magic of watching the Snatch Game. This is the epitome of what the show needs to be, and I think it's all kicked into high gear now.

Afterwards, everything comes to a full stop with Katya. She admits to being addicted to not only alcohol but drugs as well, and has been sober for over a year. The work room can be a stressful place, and with alcohol everywhere, she has reached her breaking point. She pulls Fame aside, who has been sober for nine years, and talks to her about it. They had a very touching moment about sobriety and how difficult it could be. It was really nice and touching to see this side of her.

The runway is up next and it's a doozy!

Ginger Minj - I want to like this. I get that it's Elvis inspired. But that makeup, girl. You are highlighting that double chin by making your neck a different color from your face. No. The outfit itself is good and she owns her size well.
Katya - I love this look on her, but it's not her best, either. With Max being picked on for her grey hair, but others always being blond or brunette is kind of silly. I'm not crazy about the dress, but the cape gives me life.
Kennedy Davenport - The hair is bad. The dress is weird. I have truly fallen out of love with this queen. Her attitude is awful and she consistently is not pretty on the runway. For a pageant queen, she really isn't too put together.
Violet Chachki - I like this look, but it's very gimmicky. It's a caricature of BDSM. Meh.
Max - I love her, but not crazy about this look. She ditched the grey hair this week. It doesn't feel the same. The look doesn't look as well thought out as the rest of her outfits.
Jaidynn Diore Fierce - No. No, no, no, gurl. That "nude illusion" is a big no. That lace that you superglued on NO! It's all a no here.
Pearl - This is the only look that feels put together. Every other look on the runway is a big misstep, but here, we have perfection. I'm  not sure if I love it so much because the rest of them look crummy, or if I'm just finally starting to see the genius that is Pearl.

They love Ginger and Kennedy quite a bit. So much so that they announce that both of them are the winners of the challenge. Honestly, I think that it should have been Ginger and Katya, but at least one of the Team Gao members has made it yet again. On the other hand, they really dig into Jaidynn and Max. It's obvious they are the two that are in the bottom. In a last ditch effort, Max makes a theatrical scene with her corset, but with the editing, I'm not sure what is going on with it.

In the lip sync, Jaidynn is going hard and Max is being more laid back and seductive. I hate to say it, but Team Gao is now down to two members (with Pearl as a new alternate), as Max gets sent home.

But just when I think all is lost, Ru announces that she's made a horrible mistake and sent someone home before their time, but she can't think of who. So it looks like next week we will have the whole crew together again. Holy. Crap.
