RuPaul's Drag Race Season 7 [Final Thoughts]

The show's over folks. We've got another six months before we have more Drag Race, but before we leave season seven in the dust, how did we all feel about it? Well I have some opinions, and you're gonna hear it. Season seven was a trip, and whether it was a good one or a bad one, you'll have to figure out for yourselves.

Let's start with the reunion. This year was a bit different from what we've seen in the past. Instead of parading the queens around and then having the decision, instead they bring out the top three and highlight them first, allowing Ru to pretend like she was still planning who was going to win the show. Let's be honest, she has had MONTHS to think on this. She knew who she wanted to win. This is for the ratings, honey.

Ginger was up first, and her pray the gay away song was very fun. She had a few touching moments with her father speaking well on her and saying he regretted not being there, but we already had that moment on the show. I don't know why this was such a big deal. Pearl and her sleepwalker song really stole the show for me. The song was so fun and Pearl can command a stage. Pearl's interview with Ru was more funny. We saw the Curse of Pearl about people getting sent home after talking crap on her. Violet was suspiciously last and her burlesque song was very fitting, especially since she was wearing some glammed up lingerie. I really feel like she was too naked for the finale, to be honest. Violet explained her confidence a bit. Overall her interview was very forgettable.

Finally we got to the best part of the finale, and that is seeing all the queens who went home way before their time. Of course the first crop, Tempest through Kasha, wasn't as interesting because they weren't interesting on the show. Other than Sasha Fail having nails on her gloves, there wasn't anything that made me live.

The next four, Kandy, Max, Jaidynn, and Fame were a bit more interesting. Kandy admitting having a beard, of course, and doesn't do her own makeup. Max is such a sweetheart, and I love her so damn much. We got to see that Jaidynn's family still accepts her being gay. Fame even had a chicken with her!

Is it bad I was waiting this whole time just to see Katya? Katya is the best queen in the history of this show. Hands down. Like I didn't even pay attention to whatever Kennedy or Trixie was saying. I just wanted Katya. She is hilarious, and even begged Ru to pee on her.

Lucky for everyone, Katya won Miss Congeniality so I don't have to burn down the internet. Let's get real here, I don't even care who won.

It's Violet, but I don't care.

Katya didn't win, so I couldn't care less. All three of them are petty evenly leveled, and if I had to pick one, I would have picked Pearl, but I'm not mad that Violet won. Violet has come a very long way from her first episode, and she's not only leveled out personality wise, but also she has stayed crazy consistent throughout the show, looking fabulous every week.

So there you have it. Season seven is done. And let me tell you, everyone who was complaining about this season being boring, only to hop back on at the end and find it intense, you need to get your shit together. This was very calculated. Trixie was sent home early to cause controversy. Max and Katya were eliminated to make the top three more rounded. It was so obvious that each elimination was planned in advance so that we could have a closer race at the end. I'm not saying these three didn't deserve their spot, but simply if they had gone about it more spontaneously, we probably would have had a vastly different top three this year. It did make it more interesting at the end, and for the first time in the show's history, there was no clear winner, and there was no clear "third place" queen.

This year was certainly not the best we've seen, but it was way better than the middle years. I'm lookin at you season four. We had a lot of beautiful queens. They may not know how to act, but they really did werk it. Who cares if certain things behind the scenes were rigged. It's TV. Just enjoy it. That's what I do!
