Below Deck Season 3 Episode 6 [Review]

After an array technical problems over the past week, we are finally back running at full speed. The reviews won't be postponed (probably) for a while, and we are going to have everything on schedule. Now, without further ado because I have nothing else to say, let's get to gossiping about Below Deck, shall we?

We started off this episode off-boat still, with the crew partying after their successful charter from last episode. Apparently none of these people know how to handle their liquor, because they were all stumbling about and making fools of themselves. The most together (surprisingly) was Rocky, who was having to deal with an overly jealous Emile. He is really trying my patients, not only because I don't understand why he's so crazy about Rocky, but also because he's desperate and sad.

The crew heads back to the boat, but Rocky and Connie are not done with their night. In a weird twist of events, the two decide that Connie needs to be shirtless and covered in whip cream. She decided to hop off the boat naked with nothing more than a dessert topping covering her boobs. She apparently has no shame, and didn't care if her crew mates saw her naked. Good for her, I guess.

Also that night we found out that Eddie's relationship was basically over. He spent a good deal of time on the phone with her before angrily hanging up on her and heading upstairs to find the deck in ruins. There was whip cream and clothing littered about, and he wasn't happy, so he made a nice little note that told the crew that this wasn't a sorority and they need to clean up after themselves. Ouch. He was certainly not happy.

So the ironic part about my last bit there was that their new charter guests were sorority girls. Well, mostly. They did have their token gay, of course. For the most part they were pretty low maintenance. Well, almost totally low maintenance. They got on the jet skis quickly and have a good time. Dane makes yet another bad impression by tagging along, and once again, the captain was not happy. After they dock, the crew let the skis float off into the sea. After retrieving them we get the set up of a story line where we might have to say goodbye to yet another deckhand.

After a stern talking to by Captain Lee, we were subjected to more drama between Kate and Leon. We get it, they hate each other. Why do we have to be reminded every five minutes? There were a few instances where it looked like everything was about to explode. First off, on the first meal of the charter the guests changed their minds on what they wanted. For some weird reason, Leon felt this was Kate's fault. I completely disagree. It happened yet again when the guests decided they wanted dessert, which, you know, comes after dinner. But God forbid they ever want dessert on vacation.

Either way, I really feel like Leon was in the wrong here. I like him a lot so far, and he's one of the more tolerable people on this show, but there was no reason for him to react so poorly. When you are dealing with rich people, that's kind of what you get. These people were paying very good money, plus a huge tip, just to be there, so when they ask for something, they should get it. I really feel like Kate is the only person who "gets" it.

The whole Rocky and Emile situation started becoming toxic in this episode. Amy and Kate both think that Rocky was leading him on and needed to cut it out. After going over a few options (including becoming a lesbian), she decided to write him a note. It was pretty harsh, to be fair, but with how Emile was acting, as in like a stupid lost puppy in need of a home, she really needed to say what she said. She handed him the note, but we won't get to see his full blown reaction until next week.

Elsewhere, Eddie was nervous because he was set to have his novice crew dock, and with Captain Lee was already upset with them. Luckily for him, they made it off without a hitch and were able to make a good impression on the captain. I was glad to see this, because I am really starting to like Eddie and I don't want to see him go (even if the trailer following the episode labeled "this season on" showed that someone else was getting fired).

Overall this episode was not a bad one. It focused far more on the drama going on between the crew than the charter itself, which is par the course for Bravo shows. From the looks of it, it's only going to get more dramatic. Let's hope that this season is extended from the previous ones, making this a fun, full ride. There's tons more drama to come, and it looks like this is only the beginning. Took them long enough to get interesting.
