Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills Season 5 Episode 15 [Review]

Hey can you believe I've kept with this show this whole time? Usually I'd get bored by now. Lucky for me, this season is anything but boring. Even when things are incredibly positive and fun, there's always the one (or two or four) girls who have to make it something drama-filled. Makes for good TV, but not for good friends. Let's see what kind of insanity the girls get into this week.

The episode picks up close to where the last one left off. Yolanda is planning a day out with the girls to bond everyone, but in lieu of shopping, she's chosen to do a scavenger hunt race. For normal human beings this would be amazing and fun, but for pampered wives that reside in Beverly Hills, of course it is a nightmare. I'm sure everyone could tell this was going to be a bit of a mess.

The girls arrive and the organizers tell them the teams will be "randomly" assigned. Now either this wasn't random, or the universe is hilariously cruel, because Kyle and Brandi end up on a team together with Camille who has graced us with her beautiful presence, and Eileen and Kim (who recently has decided she needs to butt out) are paired up along with Eileen's friend Lynn. That left Yolanda with the Lisas.

To my surprise very little drama happened on this outing. I thought for sure there would be more conflict, but Brandi has a great way of detaching herself when she just doesn't care, which is what probably happened here. Kim kept complaining that her knees hurt, leaving it a bit unclear if she was just unmotivated because of Eileen or if she just plain didn't want to be there. The clues were cute, but the game seemed a little too short. I guess since Beverly Hills is a bit of a large area to traverse they had to keep the clues simple. Tasks included a lock box, a malt shop, and name-dropping celebrities at a "party". Why can't I do this with my friends?

At the end, they wind up at Villa Blanca, where-in Lisa V ignores the last challenge to get past the guard and goes right in. She owns the place, so I guess she has that right. They have a fun award ceremony that has Yolanda's team in last (because they jumped on a tour bus and piggy-backed someone's bike) and Kyle's team came in second leaving Eileen the gloating victor.

For one last game, Yolanda give everyone a letter and tells them they have to work together to make a word out of it. Of course, anybody who has seen any of the promos already knew (also the episode title?), it was Amsterdam. Everyone seems excited to go, even after last year's disastrous group vacation. Maybe it will go better this year, but probably not.

After a couple pointless scenes of Kyle being rich and Eileen being freaked out about her kid staying alone with his dad, we get to the plane. Apparently Eileen and Lisa V have to travel separate because of work, but all the others are going on Yolanda's private plane. Of course given this group of girls, things instantly turn sour. The group notices that Kim is not so happy with Lisa R, and that is because Brandi told her about their talk from last week. Yikes. Lisa R being the medical health expert she always has been decides to prod Kim about the situation, which leads to a very strange screaming fight. Luckily Rinna takes the hint and backs down, but it's obvious she's not dropping this forever.

Before they get off to Amsterdam, they make a stop in Calgary, Canada for Yolanda's husband David to do a fundraising event. They kind of downplayed talking about it, but when you see it on screen it's a huge deal. There are celebrities everywhere, lots of music, and lots of beautiful people giving away money for charity. They raised over eight million dollars, which is an insane amount of money under any circumstances.

It was great to see the girls more relaxed, and I would have loved for this to be the way they ended the episode (but of course it wasn't). We got to see Steven Tyler perform, as well as plant a kiss on Kyle, and we got to see a lot more of David, who has been a rather minor player in the show up to this point. I love seeing the strong relationship between Yolanda and David. They really are meant for each other, and it is so adorable.

As mentioned earlier, instead of ending on a positive note with the gala, they move on to end on more drama. The airport in Amsterdam was a mess. The girls didn't know how to work the trollies, and Kyle had too many bags to keep up with. She had to run back and grab her rolling bag, keeping the other girls waiting. This only set off the already volatile Kim even more. She began to flip out on her sister saying Kyle would have made a big deal if she was late. It seems like there's more going on here.

From what we've learned in the past from virtually every installation of this franchise is that group vacations are always bad. I guess it's just tradition for them to do it now (maybe it's in their contracts, who knows?) but I don't think it ever actually helps any of their situations. I can already tell that this won't end well for everyone. Hopefully we will get to see Lisa V get high. Apparently she's hilarious when she's baked. But other than that this doesn't seem like the best idea for the group, especially since they all have rather fresh wounds from the last couple parties they threw.

I know Yolanda's heart is in the right place, but sometimes people just won't get along. I hope this doesn't damped her lively spirit when things turn sour. She has been trying to hard to glue together the cracks in this group of ladies, and it just isn't working. I don't foresee a vacation doing them any good either. Some things just can't be fixed once they break.
