After a big bang of an opening two episodes, the previous episode along with this one, sort of slows things down so that we can get back to a sense of normalcy. Gone is the first two seasons' constant shouting and backstabbing and in it's place are women trying to get to know each other... for now. Let's see how long that lasts!
This episode was all about Kyle and Yolanda. Seriously, the took up the majority of the episode. It was really sweet to see them getting along after the drama that has happened between them in the past, but they are in such similar points in their lives right now that it makes sense. Kyle and her family decided to take a trip to Spain to sail on a yacht, and Yolanda joined them after spending time with her mother in Holland.
We got to see these two bond quite a bit this episode. They went sight seeing, jumped off the boat together, and even went intertubing in "bagels". And the best part of this whole trip? Maricio getting shirtless (and I'm gonna need someone to make me a .gif of him taking his shirt off please and thankyou). Their families seemed to mesh well and I really liked that we get to see some of the women getting along with one another.
We didn't get to see much of Kim this episode. We only saw her at the beginning. She is devoting a lot of time to her kids and getting her daughter's wedding put together, so that is understandable. I miss seeing her, though!
Brandi was also pretty M.I.A. for this episode, too. I think it has a lot to do with her kids. She doesn't show them on camera like the other wives do, which seems to be a conscious decision. She only really does a lot of filming for the show when her ex has the kids, so we obviously wouldn't get to see a lot of her on some occasions. We saw her get her first car on her own, though, as she got an "unexpected" check from her book. You go gurl. Just don't be spending it as fast as you can get it.
And then there's Eileen. She still seems to be getting the short end of the stick with this show. She had a couple of small segments based around getting to know her and her family. Her relationship with her husband is so cute and relatable, and her step sons are way hot. Let's see more of them, ok? And I've come to be in love with her voice. Let's get her some voice over roles in some big animated features!
Just when I thought all hope was lost for Lisa V. she gets a friend. For her first segment, she's once again only filming with her husband. It looked like nobody was going to want to befriend her these days and do some of the show with her, but finally Lisa R. stepped up. I was worried at first, because it really seemed like Vanderpump was trying to turn her against the rest of the girls, but Lisa R. assured us that she was not going to be swayed by anything but her own personal experiences.
The two are actually very cute together. Seeing Lisa R. with Lisa V. is actually making me like Mrs. Vanderpump a little again. She still rubs me the wrong way most of the time, but seeing her in a more positive light and more positive situation makes her less of a villain. I'll watch this relationship and see where it takes us.
And finally there was the big phone call. Bravo has been amping up this call like it was a huge deal. In actuality, it was just Yolanda's daughter getting a DUI. Now, I'm not saying this isn't a big deal, and they made it obvious that Yolanda's father was killed in a car accident, but it wasn't near as serious as we were lead to believe. It really looked in the previews like her mother had passed or her kids got hurt -- something serious. But instead it was her daughter getting into trouble. I guess they just needed to boost ratings during a more or less mellow time in the season.
This episode was pretty tame. Not a lot happened drama wise, which isn't always a bad thing. We got to see some unusual friendships develop, and we got just a little more of a glimpse into who Eileen is as a person. I'm excited to see where this season goes, and find out if they can really bring the whole group back together again.
