Side FX & Kim Cameron Have No Regrets With New Album

Side FX is one of those bands that don't get near as much recognition as they deserve. They have been on the Billboard Top 40 more times that I can remember at this point, and their vixen lead singer Kim Cameron has evolved into her role as a leader. They have once again defied the current state of music by doing the unthinkable (for indie pop anyway) -- they released an album. Take a look at No Regrets.

This album came as a bit of a shock to me. I hadn't seen a whole lot of promotion for it, and now it's out and ready to be listened to. No matter, I still gave it a thorough listen. What is really amazing is the band's ability to create a steady stream of music. They have never really had a drought where they were missing from the music scene, giving fans a steady stream of music to enjoy and discover as the year unfolds. They've started off 2015 with a full album.

And that's another thing that is a bit interesting about this album. I believe it may have originally been meant to be an EP, as there only technically only eight different songs. The rest of the impressive sixteen track album is filled out by remixes. While I find the track listing a bit off for it being classified as an album (as in hearing one song, and immediately having the remix follow it), I think this is a very interesting and cost effective idea. All of the individual tracks are strong on their own, and the remixes give them a different vibe. For instance, "Carnival of Baggage" has a very Blondie feel to it, but on the very next track it is remixed into a club banger.

This endeavor is a very bold one that not many artists would have chosen, but by the title, it's obvious they full well knew the risks they were taking. And not to be redundant, but I feel they truly had no regrets.

You can listen to the album in it's full glory now on Spotify.

Side FX Is Back With Two New Tracks And A Video

It's been a hot minute since I've seen Side FX around the net. They released their latest album, "Spin Me Ever After" and have been on tour ever since promoting and touring. Recently, they released a dual A-Side single called "Still Spinning". I knew better  to hop on the train right away, because a little birdie told me they would have a video to go along with it. And today, this is what we found:

Can I take a moment to say that it is incredibly impressive that this video has gotten over 37,000 views in less than 24 hours. I knew that Side FX was a popular group, seeing as they've been on Billboard Top 40 multiple times, but I didn't know they had that kind of pull! Color me genuinely impressed.

The video consists of two songs, "Not Into You" and "A Little Bit In Love". The two songs are mixed together to form one continuous mix (although the video version has yet to pop up on iTunes). Both songs share a similar vibe, but are about completely different topics. The first, "Not Into You" is all about trying to let a guy down gently because he's not exactly her type. The second, "A Little Bit In Love" is her sort of coming to her senses and realizing that she is falling in love and it's something she can't help.

The video really helps get the message across. It features Kim (who looks STUNNING!) trying her best to lose a guy, only to realize at the midpoint where the song shifts that he is actually the man of her dreams. Both songs share a sense of reluctance, which is played up on screen. Can I also say that Kim has great taste in guys, as her male lead was not bad on the eyes at all.

Personally, even though I like "Not Into You", I think it works best as a total package. I was a little surprised to see that the video mix wasn't for sale anywhere. Perhaps it will be included in some kind of deluxe package, or posted to another site exclusively. Who knows? All I can say is that they've caught me by surprise yet again. What will they come up with next?

Grab "Not Into You" and "A Little Bit In Love" both on iTunes!

Universal Conquest Awards: The 2012 Winners

The time has finally come! The polls have been down for a couple of days, but getting anything done over the Christmas holidays is nearly impossible. Finally, after a bit of help from a friend and resourcefulness on my own end,  the UCAs have come to a close. The winners are below, but first, I would like to take the time to be a little sentimental and sappy.

This year, I exceeded my goals not only once, but twice. Last year, I only received around 150 votes. This goes to show you how far things have come over the past year. This time around, my goal was to have at least two hundred votes for Song of the Year -- and I doubled it. Thanks to you, the readers and the artists who Facebook, tweeted, and called up their relatives (yes, it happened), the song of the year category alone got over 400 votes, and if you were to tally up all the votes from all the categories, TOTU scored over 1,000 votes. I cannot express how grateful I am for  your continued support and love.

Now for the winners -- some of them may surprise you.

New Side FX Video Goes Viral

Today I decided to brace myself for what is to come -- and that is a huge influx of Drag Race related content. With all the reviews, music, and extras coming out over the next month related to Drag Race and queens in general, I decided to take a breather and post about my first passion: Music. Today we have the amazing group Side FX fronted by the beautiful and charming Kim Cameron.

This video is very sexual. It took me by surprise at first, especially when compared to their previous internet sensation "3 Seconds" which was much more tame in regards to sex appeal. This go around, Kim spends a lot of the video showing off her body and lounging in bed with a very sexy man (who I should get more familiar with, no?). Appropriately so, the video made it's debut on Playmates Presents, a talk show on SiriusXM just under two weeks ago.

Almost instantly, the video skyrocketed to over 230,000 views, and now, two weeks later, it is brimming on the edge of 300,000. Being on the Billboard Top 40 numerous times, it wasn't too far of a stretch to see the video get popular, but the numbers alone are still impressive. This is the group's second video to go viral, showing that they are no one-hit-wonder. This is surly not the last video of theirs to explode either, as this is only part one in a line of music videos spanning five installments, creating a full story line with each video featuring another song from their newest album "Spin Me Ever After".  The series, called "Spinning Romance" is being Produced by Parule Basu-Barua of Wide-Eyed Entertainment and directed and edited by Brandon Ruckdashel.

As if this isn't impressive enough, Kim has also announced that the proceeds won't even be her's alone. In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Kim is donating a portion of the profits from "The Man I Used To Know" to breast cancer research. That means that when you buy the song on iTunes, you are not only getting a great track, but you are also helping out in the grander scheme of things.

Side FX To Play Live On Radio

Surely you guys remember my new friend from the group Side FX. Kim Cameron is not only talented, but a sweet person, too. It's that combination that makes me want to support them in every venture they take. Recently, they were given a big opportunity, and they are definitely taking it. Now it's up to you, the fans, to listen in.

The group is being flown out to LA to perform on a radio show, and this one isn't any small time gig. They are set to appear on the Playboy Radio show "Playmates Presents". The whole event will go down at 4PM West Coast time, on October 12, this Friday. Unfortunately it will only be available to those who are subscribed to XM Radio, so hurry now and check into it so you can get all the latest info.

The group will be answering questions live on the air, as well as playing several of their songs from "Spin Me Ever After" live. The set list hasn't been fully released, but I can say that "The Man I Used To Know" will be among the tracks picked.

Side FX has made it into the Billboard Top 40 on numerous occasions, making this another achievement on their list. The group has been growing wildly over the past two years, and with the release of their fourth studio album "Spin Me Ever After", things seem to only be going up for the band. If you can't make the radio show, don't fret. Their album is up on iTunes and other online retailers.

Album Review - Side FX "Spin Me Ever After"

Usually I go about reviewing albums a particular way. I buy them, and write up a review upon my first listen. This time was different for an array of reasons, but mostly because I really like this album. It's got so many hidden meanings in the lyrics, great beats, and shining vocals. This one is quite the catch, and from a group that needs more exposure, so of course I'm all over it. This time, it's Kim Cameron with her band Side FX in their new smash "Spin Me Ever After".

Interview: Spinning With Kim Cameron of Side FX

Kim Cameron is an all around talented lady. She's can sing, write songs, and she has a knack for telling some amazing stories. She, along with her band Side FX, have been perfecting her newest album, "Spin Me Ever After", what can only be described as a musical experience. As always, I wasn't shy at getting right to the source to get all my questions answered -- and then some.
