It's that time of the week again! And to think I'd almost forgotten. Well I'm glad I didn't because this episode is probably one of the best of the whole season -- and not just because of the drama. It's time to get all pumped up with some sexy dudes, some paint, and some robot themes. Don't ask me how that works. Let's just get started.
The work room isn't the same without Kyle, but alas, the competition must go on. The artists walk into the room and see immediately body parts. Weird! Speaking of it looks so strange only seeing five of them standing there. Rebecca says they have to create an anatomically correct painting to show the inside of their model. On top of that, they only have two hours to do it. RuPaul and Craig are the judges on call for this mini challenge.
Cheryl Ann of course believes she is going to nail this one. We will see, Mrs. Classically Trained. She apparently had three years of anatomy on top of her classical training. Rio, on the other hand, is very nervous because he is a cartoonist. He spends a lot of his time walking around seeing what everyone else is up to. He even mentions that he quit his job to come to the competition. Ouch.
In no time the challenge is over and the judges come back to check them out. Avi didn't do the best with this one, even if it did look neat. Lana did a half-and-half that looked beautiful, but at the same time didn't look all that real. Aryn had some very creative "squares" and had a great concept. Cheryl Ann really did live up to her big talk. Her painting looked very realistic. Rio's piece also looked pretty realistic. The muscles he painted looked real, and he had a good concept.
After a short deliberation, the judges return with their selections. Lana and Cheryl Ann are the top two. From here, it was pretty clear who won. Cheryl Ann finally gets that win she's been dying for. They move right into the main challenge, and these huge sexy men come filing out. They are getting four hours to create a full body robot design. These bodybuilders are so incredibly sexy. Incredibly.
All the girls (and Ru, obviously) are gushing over the sexy men. Aryn is panicking because she doesn't know what to paint and her idea isn't fleshed out enough. Avi on the other hand gets a bit emotional and personal, given that he is painting about the missiles launched in his home land of Israel. Cheryl Ann comes out to do something a bit different, with a big bear on the front that symbolizes her fear. Rio, the self taught genius, is struggling with having to airbrush his entire model. Yikes.
Not long after that Robin and Rebecca come through. The painters at least were much further along in their paintings than before. Everyone seemed pretty confident in their designs, with Aryn looking the most freaked out. The others really kept their cool. Cheryl Ann seemed confident on the outside, but according to her fellow competitors, it was all made up on the spot. Uhoh. The shade!
I was continually distracted by the hot guys in the work room this week, so I probably missed a lot of the drama. I do know that even Aryn got in on mocking Cheryl Ann, but Cheryl focuses on how Rio is bullying her. While I'm not sure if that's the word I would use, but at least it looks like they are keeping the drama on blast. Aryn and a few of the others start worrying about how there's not enough time left, and suddenly, the clock hits zero. It's time for them to move to the show room and oggle some muscle hunks!
And here we have the main stage looks:
Avi - This is one of the best of the week. The color scheme works, it looks robotic, and the concept of it being part of the history of Israel is very solid and well thought out. The eye prosthetic adds to the piece without taking away, and it really reminds me of Colossus from X-Men. Bravo!
Aryn - I like the colors on this one too, but it didn't have a lot of detail and the back was very plain. Her original concept of the transformer was ditched last minute and sadly it really showed.
Rio - I like it but at the same time I hate it. It looks robotic and fun, but it looks really sloppy. It isn't as polished as everyone else, and it really needed a lot more of the finesse that we normally see from Rio. He was also the only one who went with the traditional greys color scheme.
Lana - She had the most creative robot. It honestly looked like someone who's skin had been ripped off. I don't think that red was a great color choice, and it really didn't feel robotic at all.
Cheryl Ann - As much as I know I'll get read for it, I love this piece. The bear does come across as a logo on the chets, and the colors and panels look amazing. She really nailed this one. I loved it.
After a long deliberation, Rebecca announces that Avi and Lana are the top two. The winner, coming at no surprise really, is Avi. This is his billionth win this season, and is well deserved as always. He is so humble and talented that it's hard not to love him. They also announce that Aryn, Rio, And Cheryl Ann are all in the bottom. Cheryl Ann is the first person announced as safe, leaving Aryn and Rio to face the judges alone. Rio is the one that takes the cut, and he immediately announces that the whole thing was BS. He immediately attacks Cheryl Ann, and Craig shuts it down.
Team Gao still has one member left. We are barely hanging on as a team, but I trust Aryn will guide us to the end!
