Skin Wars Season 2 Episode 5 [Review]

Sorry for the lack of posts this past week. I'll work on that. And to kick it all off, I have my latest review of GSN's smash hit reality TV show Skin Wars! This was an episode I'd been waiting to see for a very long time, and if you are a fan of horror movies, especially the Saw movie franchise. If you aren't getting it just yet then check things out below.

The first thing they see in the work room is a big purple door. Someone comes a knocking and of course it's Ru, asking them all if they're super glad they aren't Fernello. Some say it's too soon, but I think it's too late. The mini challenge is for them to make a painting that makes Ru laugh. Of course we cut immediately to Cheryl Ann so she can give you an excuse as to why she's going to fail. She's a classically trained painter, in case you have missed every second of the last four episodes.

Sammie gets the spotlight here which made me smile so much. She talks about how she used body painting to gain her own identity past her family. She's driven to show people that there are many ways to be yourself in the world of body painting. Rio gets a lot of shine, too, who is someone who also has been overlooked a bit lately, as he throws tons of shade at Cheryl Ann with his painting. He's gonna re-throw her under that bus!

Surprisingly most of them did well. Everyone seems to want to draw Ru, which is pretty humorous. We saw Ru the babysitter, Ru the dream killer, and a queen (possibly Ru) running over Cheryl. Speaking of Cheryl and Ru, I think she bored him to tears. King Cat my ass. Sadly Kyle got zero laughs, too. In the top three we have Lana, Rio, and Aryn, but it's obvious that Rio is the winner here.

Just when you thought the show couldn't get any crazier, the puppet from Saw pops up on the TV, telling them they are going to be in two teams and get four models to paint as horror styles. Out of everyone, the only ones without horror experience is Cheryl. Go figure. Rio, as the winner gets to pick his teammates, with his first choice being Aryn. He goes on to pick Avi and Kyle. He has one awesome team! That leaves Lana, Dawn Marie, Sammie, and Cheryl Ann as the second team, much to Sammie's dismay.

The second they get to the room they are in battle mode. Team Rio seems very put together and agreeing on things from the beginning, but Team Dawn Marie was very disjointed. Rio's team is going with the theme of See/Hear/Speak No Evil, and Dawn Marie's team is going for a very broad haunted house theme. Just when they think things won't get any more intense, Tobin Bell walks in. He's the real Jigsaw from Saw. That is pretty awesome.

It's very odd that the judges went in so early to see the work. It looked like they had just got started during the judges walkthrough, and it really seemed more like them explaining concepts then showing progress. It was sort of a waste of time. It was fun to see that the puppet was giving them the countdown. Obviously Team Dawn Marie is in trouble, seeing as Team Rio is working together much better than them. It looks like we could be saying goodbye to a great person tonight.

Time runs out very quickly, and the teams are sent to the main stage by Rebecca. There are some troubles on both teams, but it is unclear who is the one that is going to be sent home this week. Let's take a stab at their main stage looks.

Dawn Marie/Cheryl Ann/Sammie/Lana - The Werepire or whatever was so lame. She had some decent details, but the overall art was not there. Lana's Zombie was very un-detailed. Dawn's doll was the funnest of them all. The prosthetic worked for it this time. Sammie' clown face was amazing, but the rest was a little less detailed then her competitors.

Rio/Aryn/Avi/Kyle - Rio's Nun looked pretty fun, but a lot of it was unfinished. Avi's speak no evil was so fun. The stitches were amazing, and the details were there. Aryn's hear no evil had some great prosthetic moments.  Kyel's see no evil was the best of the group. The thorns really sold the idea. Their back piece was so well done. I've not seen anything like this before on the show.

The judges probe everyone who they thinks should be on the bottom, and Sammie and Lana are everyone's top picks. Ouch. Two of my favorites are the weakest links. On the other team, Rio put himself in the line of fire, ready to be the sacrifice if his team goes belly up.

Rio's team was the winning team, of course. Kyle sneaks in his first win, giving Team Gao another win! Yass! Kyle really deserved this one, and it's a win I cannot dispute at all. As for the bottom, it was going to be sad either way. The bottom two end up being Lana and Sammie. Unfortunately we lost Sammie, one of the Team Gao members. This is incredibly devastating. She was my favorite this season, and I wanted to see her longer.

Team Gao is down to two with Kyle and Aryn. Let's hope one of these two makes it to the top.
