Is it Wednesday already? After reaching a boiling point over the last two episodes, it really felt like things calmed down this week, which is good for the girls, not so good for us. It may have been a slower week, but don't let that deter you from reading. I'm still as snarky yet insightful as ever!
We begin the episode with a fun factoid. Brandi is going on a 21 day cleanse, staying away from sugar and alcohol. She says she's doing it because Yolanda asked her to, and since she's always had her back, Brandi feels obligated to at least try. I feel like this might be a good first step for Brandi, and give people a chance to see more of her sober side, which honestly isn't highlighted on the show much.
I found myself incredibly annoyed with Kyle in this episode. She was complaining about the twisted relationship between Kim and Brandi to Lisa V, who offered her the advice to simply not let it bother her. Of all the people she could take advice on Brandi from, I believe Vanderpump to be the expert. So for her to scoff and say she should check herself was insulting. I may not be the biggest fan of Lisa V, but she knows her stuff.
Back to Brandi, she takes a day out to the beach while the other girls dis-include her from the happenings, and hangs out with her friend Jen. This girl involves herself far too much in others' business, which makes me nervous. While she does have a few good points about Kim (mostly that she needs to remove herself from tempting situations), she really seems passionate about another persons' business. It really set me off. Midway through their conversation, Brandi gets a call from Ken, Lisa V's husband, inviting her to a surprise party for Lisa. That was quite a shock to basically everyone, even if she was told to be on her best behavior. Yikes.
As for what the others are doing, they are all headed to Eileen's house to do a reading of her husband's latest script. They double up to get their, with Kim and Kyle in one car and Lisa and Lisa in another. I really like the chemistry between the two Lisas. They get along well and understand each others' humor. Unfortunately, it didn't take long for them to move onto everyone's new favorite topic -- Kim. Dr. Rinna makes another appearance, diagnosing Kim once again, much to the discomfort of Vanderpump. Rinna says they need to stage an intervention or at least call her on her actions. Lisa V strongly disagrees, fearing that the group will turn against Rinna if she makes this move. This situation looks dicey.
In the other car we have two sisters who just told each other to f--- off, yet they are gossiping and pretending like nothing happened. It was very eerie to watch. The subject eventually turns to Eileen, who Kim, as diplomatically as possible, says she doesn't really like. Well at least she's honest. I can see her point of view, though, with Eileen involving herself in a sister battle, but at the same time Eileen had her own point to make. I think this one is better left up to the girls.
We finally get to the house and see almost none of the script. It was kind of sad. What I did gather is that they were playing poker with a sexually active puppet (Kim), and that Lisa R believes she's above being an announcer. Damn. At least nobody freaked out on anyone. Oh and no wine was thrown. That's right. Brandi wasn't there. Explains everything.
The last bits of the episode are all about Lisa V's surprise party. Everyone shows up, even Brandi, and after a bit of coaxing, Ken finally gets her to go to Pump. Lisa V literally had no idea this was happening and it was great to see her be genuinely happy. So many times I feel like we are seeing some fake front she puts on, but this time it was very obviously real. She got to spend time with her friends, and even had some good old fun torturing Brandi by making her sing.
After a duet that turned into a full blown girl group (a kind of bad one) and tracking down flower thieves Brandi and Lisa R, I'd say that her birthday was a success. After a rough start on this season, she seems to finally be enjoying her place in the group again.
Just before the credits roll for the week, Eileen pins down Kyle to talk to her one on one. She informs her that she feels a moral obligation to say something about Kim's odd behavior and question her sobriety. This immediately sets off a red flag with Kyle who gives her a cryptic warning that things won't end well. And by the looks of the next episode preview, Mrs. Richards is a psychic able to see the future.
This episode was a bit of a breeze compared to the last few weeks. Nobody blew up on anyone, and most of the time was spent enjoying each others' company. It is nice to have these breather episodes from time to time, especially with the climactic end coming soon. We are on episode 14 already, which means we are over halfway to the end (with most seasons being 20-23 episodes). More drama will ensue, surely, but my question is can our two soap opera housewives hang on to last another season with these crazy gals?
