Video Review - Hot Couture

Yeah. I know the video has only been out for a few hours. Do you not trust me to do a review in such short notice? How dare you! Anyway, this video is sickening. No really. There is no other word in the entire English language that could describe this video, but I'mma do my best to sum it up for you guys.

So the main point of this video is to show you all the awesome outfits Manila owns. No, really. Manila wears a wide array of outfits, a few of which stand out like the picture above, also used in the single cover. So what if it looks like she murdered a Muppet? She still looks fine. On second thought, maybe it's in retaliation for the all hair challenge from season three.

Another stand out couture dress this lady wears is the Statue of Liberty getup. Talk about patriotic. Back in RPDR, she was bashed for loosing focus on the All-American challenge for the troops, and this time she makes it clear. She loves America... either that or she wants everyone know she can pull off green sequins.

A certain scene takes place wherein Manila becomes possessed by that bitchy soprano from The Phantom of the Opera. Hotter than a pink poodle and crazier than anybody you've ever met, this Renaissance lady has a couple of fine video vixens by her side -- one of which is rising drag star Jiggly(puff) Caliente. Oh, and I know it's hard to see via my tiny pictures, but I'm pretty sure that beauty mark is in the shape of a star. So hot.

"Prima Donna, first lady on the stage."

Whoa, I get sidetracked way too easily. This video does have a plot. People have been raving about the scenes with the kid. In between Manila trying on every outfit ever, "Lil Manila" (a boy meant to be her as a child) is going through his mothers makeup and jewelry. At the climax of the video he is caught by his mother, lipstick and all, and it looks like he might be in trouble. To the delight of everyone, the she pulls out some cute shoes to complete his outfit. This is actually a very beautiful message of acceptance. She may not have come from a bad or repressive household, but that doesn't make her message any less meaningful.

This is... exactly what it looks like.

What completes this video is Manila herself. Manila Luzon is the perfect mix of glamor and camp, two of the most important factors in a drag queen. The video shows both the serious and beautiful side of her, as well as her funny campy/crazy side. This video is the epitome of what a drag queen should be. Being quirky all the time gets boring and being a fashionista full time gets predictable. This lady is both and makes it werk.
