Below Deck Season 3 Episode 4 [Review]

Well this is awkward. I have a curse when it comes to TV shows. When I pick a favorite, they either leave first or die first, and it like now that I've decided Don is my favorite, that he will be taking his leave. Sad, too, because he was extremely sexy. Alas, the charter must go on, and the guests must be looked after. Here's to another episode of this insane series.

The episode started back up and it's still Don and Captain Lee talking. Don tossed in his notice to quite, and Lee just didn't give a crap. I, on the other hand, was completely devastated. I love Don, mostly because he's hot as hell. He went down to talk to Kate to explain what happened. She was actually very understanding, which took me for surprise.

Meanwhile, they were still in the middle of a charter, so the guests still needed looking after. While prepping for the new day, the other crew members including Connie, Rocky, and Amy started gossiping about Don leaving. Not many people seemed sad to see him go, and not to point out the obvious, but he could have waited until the charter was over so he could get the tips. Eddie seemed most happy to have him gone, even going as far as to say they worked better without him.

Again, I continue to not understand why these guys think Rocky is so sexy. Emile is crazy about her this season, and yet she's just so awful to me. I don't find her cute (being gay doesn't help I guess), and her personality is dreadful. This girl has gotten a big ego over the past few episodes, too, because now she even wants to try and get with Eddie. Lord save the children because this woman has gone full on crazy.

Back to the guests, which should be their top priority, the high priority guest waned something special. He suggested a dive-off competition between the staff. Amy didn't seem excited about it, but Captain Lee knows the value of a good tip, so he gave them the green light. They all got dressed up in crazy outfits including tutus, pink wigs, and sombreros. Kate, who is the girliest of them all, chose a wet suit so she wouldn't get her hair wet. Lord.

While their costumes were impressive(ly bad), their diving skills left more to be desired. It was a very fun moment in the show, and one that the guests as well as the crew will remember for the rest of their lives. Of course Rocky got the best results because for some stupid reason everyone finds her charming instead of annoying like they should. This has become the biggest mystery of Below Deck season three. Why is Rocky likable?

Kate decided to continue through with her Greek themed toga party that she'd planned last episode. They announce also that this will be the award ceremony for the competition. They hurry to get things ready for the party while the guests are away. Rocky headed off to break, which she took in Emile's bunk getting spooned by him. I swear it's like Emile has never seen a woman before in his life. Good god gurl, get a grip.

The toga party wasn't as awful as I had expected. Most are, but this one worked out a bit better. They even talked Emile into participating, via him getting a back rub from Kate. Really without Don, there's not any sexy dudes to parade around. Everyone thought Emile looked good, but I was very "meh" about the whole thing.

The diving awards were short and sweet. Rocky, obviously, wins. She got the five hundred dollar tip, and she ran off to put on her mermaid outfit to surprise everyone. To be fair she looked pretty cool as a mermaid, but the scene was very underplayed after they had hyped it up for two episodes. For the first time I wish they had gotten more screen time for her. But alas.

After the party, the crew wound down in the kitchen. Eddie talked about himself the first time ever. He talked about him and his girlfriend being together for three years. I still feel like he's not all straight, but that's none of my business is it? They also delved into how great it is without Don there. That one hurt a little bit, as he was totally my favorite. I guess now I will have to rely solely on Kate for entertainment out of this franchise. Please don't leave, Kate!

And just like that the charter was over with. They get ready to head back to shore, but they have a technical difficulty first. The tow line got caught up in the motor, and they had to go underneath the boat to cut it loose. Eddie volunteers due to him being in charge, and he took complete responsibility. He may be annoying a lot of the time, but he is good at his job, and he really does want to do good. He may not be the hottest or most interesting character on the show, but without him I know they wouldn't be able to function.

After a few compliments, the guest drops off his tip for them and takes off. Captain Lee calls them together to discuss how much they all made from this one. They got 20k, split ten ways, and since Don quit, everyone got more than they originally would have. I guess something positive did come out of the situation. Emile grew a pair and asked the captain if he could take Rocky off-boat to dinner. Surprisingly he said yes, but only for two hours. Of course Rocky was down with the idea (who doesn't like free food and drinks?). I would say more about this segment, but I really didn't care at all. Both of these characters annoy me, so I hope that they get married and leave the show forever. Tomorrow.

On a much more interesting note, we got to eavesdrop on Eddie talking to his girlfriend. Things got heated very fast, and it got really awkward with everyone able to hear him. Apparently his girlfriend had cheated on him, and things were really rough with them during filming. I feel bad for him. Eddie is definitely growing on me this year. Kate tried to talk to him about it, but he really was in too bad of a mood to talk it out.

Eddie got really drunk and embarrassed himself. That's all that really happened there. Yawn.
