Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 5 Episode 16 [Review]

Again, I apologize for bringing this week's review out a bit late. Due to personal circumstances both RHBH and RPDR were pushed back a day, so instead of your usual Wednesday review, I'm putting it up on my off day. So you guys better read and enjoy. Mostly because this one is a doozy. Like... A huge doozy.

Ok so even if you are living under a rock and haven't seen the promos for this episode flooding Bravo, it's immediately obvious that something is going down with Kim and Lisa. These "previously on" clips go waaaaay back to the first encounters between the two, so we definitely have an inkling that something big is going down. Oh. Lord. Ladies, you are on vacation. Leave that particular baggage at home, please.

So we get started out with Lisa V and Eileen joining the girls Amsterdam. They had previous commitments so they weren't able to tag along to Canada, but that's probably for the best. Anyway, they group up with Lisa R to talk -- about Kim. No surprise there. Lisa R catches them up on what happened on the plane, and makes sure they know that they are in for an interesting trip.

As a gesture of kindness for their first day in the new land, Yolanda takes them all out for lunch. As they are sitting Yolanda decides they should all talk about things close to them so they can become more real to their group of friends. Yolanda opens up about her daughter's DUI and how she now is conflicted in her feelings because of it. It was a tender moment, and I think that's why I really like Yolanda. She is obviously the most real of these 'real housewives'.

When it gets to Lisa R, things start to turn. Lisa reveals that when she was young, her sister died of a drug and alcohol overdose, leading her to become Dr. Rinna and insert herself into others' problems. Ok, so maybe I'm being a little petty here, but the second she started to apologize to Kim for her actions prior, things start to go to hell. Kim gets on the defensive and when Rinna doesn't back down, it becomes a shouting and pointing match again (think season two Kim/Kyle VS Brandi). Amidst all the shouting and pointing, the girls try and get words in, but not much happens. Kim starts ripping into her sister for not defending her, and then turns her sights on Lisa R's family. The second she  mentions Lisa's husband, Lisa R becomes an animal.

Wine is thrown. A glass is smashed. Kyle literally runs for the hills. Everyone is blown away by the outburst.

In a weird yet predictable turn of events, the majority of the girls start rallying with Lisa R. In the aftermath, everyone but Brandi is outside trying to help Rinna calm herself. From the looks of it, everyone unanimously agreed that Kim went a bit too far, even if Rinna was poking the beast a bit. Kyle is having a breakdown, Lisa R is in shock of what she just did, and Yolanda is put in a hard position. In the end she decided to go back and talk to Kim, making sure she was ok, but also letting her know that was not the right way to go about the situation.

The girls all go back to the hotel in their two newly formed groups, leaving Kim with only two companions. Brandi seemed oddly silent about the whole thing, but clearly had Kim's back. She was actually a bit relieved that she wasn't the center of drama this time, which is kind of awkward seeing as she causes most of it. Anyway, back in Kyle's room, the girls all have decided that she is being abused by Kim. I'm not completely sold on this. I honestly think that Kim is up against a wall and is going a bit too hard. She doesn't see that her actions are too far out there to even begin to defend, so she lashes out at those she believes should be there for her. On this matter, I'm in the middle. With the way the show is edited, it could really be either person's truth.

In the morning, Lisa R gets a knock on the door. It's Kim, wanting to discuss last night. I was relieved to see that they didn't kill each other, but instead had a calm talk. Kim still seemed a bit off kilter with her rational, but was definitely more down to Earth. She was willing to admit her faults, and so was Lisa R to an extent. This talk really was good for them, even if they didn't even come close to a truce. Baby steps, I guess.

To be completely honest, the first half of the episode was so drama packed and exhausting that had the rest of the episode not been touristy filler nonsense, I probably would have keeled over. Nothing major happens here. They go sight seeing, they ride bikes, they meet a man who lied about dating Yolanda so he could get guaranteed screen time on an American show he will probably never even see. You know, the usual millionaire "I Can Drop Everything To Go On A Spontaneous Amsterdam Trip" schtick.

It was cute to see Yolanda's mother again. This woman is so adorable! And with Yolanda being the only person on the show who isn't completely insane lately, it was great to have a breather moment. Her mom is funny and charming, telling her daughter that she may have partook in some pot from time to time.

The girls also hit up a pot shop, where they ordered on cake that had some Amsterdam-legal stuff inside of it. All was good and well, but it was pretty obvious Brandi was getting annoyed. Everyone was playing it off like they'd never smoked before, so she decides to start calling people out. Lisa V admits readily, but Kyle is hesitant. So Brandi blurts out that the last time she smoked pot it was with Kyle. Oh. Snap.

So here's a picture of Lisa V being ridiculous.

Out on the streets, Brandi had a bit of a meltdown after holding in her anger for so long. I can see her point of her having different rules, but I can also see the others' points about her saying the things she does to hurt, not to help, so again I fall somewhere in the middle.

Once again this show has proven that if you take these ladies to another country they are going to start all kinds of drama and make other nations think we are hoodlums. Hah. Seriously, though, these vacations never turn out well, and with at least one more episode of them gallivanting off into pot-land, I'm sure that more drama will arise.

We are nearing the close of this season, and lots of relationships are coming to an end. Will our new ladies stand the test of time and make it to a new season? Will this be the final straw for Kim and Kyle causing one of them to leave? We'll have to wait and see.
