Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills Season 5 Episode 5 [Review]

The one thing I love about Bravo is that they often times say "Who needs a Christmas vacation?" and while all these other big shows go on hiatus until January, Real Housewives continue on. No mid-season break for these ladies. Thus we get to continue in my now time-honored tradition of watching the episodes and making snarky comments about Lisa Vanderpump the show. So why not get started?

We pick up with the aftermath of last week's shocking revelation that Yolanda's daughter got a DUI. The rest of the scenes on the yacht were very uncomfortable as she purposely isolated herself from the rest of them. When she got home, she went to bring her husband lunch while they were working so they could discuss the situation. She seemed much more composed in the later scene, as she'd had time to digest the situation. They both agreed to keep Yolanda's ex-husband involved in any decisions.

We really didn't see much of Brandi this week, either. I wonder if my assumptions about her spending time with her children was right. The only scene we get of her is while she was recording her podcast. I think I feel so aligned with Brandi because we do a lot of the same things. Although my podcast isn't in existence yet, I do interview a lot of celebrities, just as she had her own guest Viivica A. Fox on.

It got really awkward with Brandi's managers pressuring her to be family friendly. Everything was going well until the middle of the interview, when Vivica started dropping the f-bomb, which opened the doors for Brandi to do so, too. It became a bit of a mess, but really set her up for future storylines.

I think it has been decided that Eileen is the best housewife ever. We got to see soooo much more of her this week, and it only made me love her more. This time we got to see her at work! She mentioned that she decided to quit acting, but it only caused problems with her and her husband, so now she's back at it. We actually got to see her on set, which was amazing considering that it was at a different network. I love when she gets really serious about her work. She even took her youngest son along with her. This was definitely one of the biggest highlights of the season so far.

Again this week, the Lisas' stories were intertwined. Lisa R had been invited last week to accompany Lisa V to get her star on the walk in Palm Springs, one of California's predominantly gay areas. As I said last week, Lisa V is so much more tolerable when she's around her fellow Lisa, which is a breath of fresh air for her persona that  is portrayed on the show.

Lisa V held a big dinner at her Palm Springs home with a lot of her friends, a few of which were gay. We got to hear a rather touching story from Vanderpump about her nephew who refused to come out until his grandmother had passed for fear she wouldn't love him. Lisa assured us that she would have loved him anyway, proving again why she is an LGBT icon not only in California, but across the country via this show. It was also nice to see more of her gay friends beyond her former house guest turned nightmare who shall not be named.

It all came down the the presentation of the star, which was very cute. Lisa R showed up first and confused some of the guests as they started snapping pics of her, to which she assured they had the wrong woman. After Lisa V came in, along with her drawn out introductions, we got to see Lance Bass formerly of the boy band 'NSYNC present the award. God how I love that man!

The whole focus of the episode was supposed to be the wedding of Kim's daughter Brooke, but I felt it got glossed over a bit. We did get some cute scenes of Kim and her ex husband bonding over pedicures (don't ask) and some really touching phone calls between Kim and Kyle, but in all honesty, the wedding portion of the show was about a minute long. We saw more of Kyle and her daughters running behind and Kim trying not to cry all of her makeup off than we did the actual ceremony, which was kind of sad and misleading from the promos. I really wanted to see Kim's full blown reaction when her daughter finally said "I do." Instead we got the abridged version. Not cool, Bravo. Not cool.

Despite my gripes about the short wedding, I really liked that we ended on a positive note this episode. Too many times in the Real Housewives franchise history have we ended an episode on something negative or a cliffhanger that could potentially be disastrous. It was good to see Lisa V actually gain a comrade in the show with as many enemies as she's made. Overall this was a pretty solid episode with plenty of Eileen and Kim to keep this blogger happy!

Oh and as a bonus, since I couldn't get a good screenshot of Mauricio shirtless in the last episode, I found this gem for you all from this one!
