Reality TV Review: RHNJ Season Five Episode 13

After a trying two and a half seasons, it looks like some of the major issues have been resolved. Who knows if this will open the doors for more issues, but it looks like Teresa has finally got the memo that she's gotta stop blaming literally everyone or else she'll have no friends. Still love you, Tre! Anyway, this is the first part of our obligatory vacation story. We all remember what happened in last season's camping fiasco. Let's hope this one is a bit more tame.

Damn, that "previously on" segment made everything seem super dramatic. if I remember correctly, the past few episodes have been really positive. What the? It's all in the editing, isn't it?

Let's begin this episode with a Teresa segment. Here, she's giving a demonstration of some of her cooking in a store. Kathy shows up, mid way, and it seems things are going very well. I thought it was sweet she was there to support her cousin. They quickly move to talking about last episode's drama with Jan. She again overstates she had nothing to do with it. Still kinda suspicious.

Cut to Melissa who confirms that she does not believe Teresa that much. She puts on a nice face, but her husband doesn't even try. He thinks she has something to do with it, as does the rest of America.

We move into more Kathy, which is a great thing to see, and I have to say that her son is growning into the cutie! That being said, he's sixteen so I'll not get any creepier on that subject. This turns out to be a packing montage. Caroline's passed by quickly, but Teresa had a bit more screen time, as always. He daughter ran off with her bathing suit. Jacqueline is excited about it, too, seeing as she just got her stomach done.

I love it when they have home video segments. These feel much more real than the professional recordings. It feels less scripted and less forced. Team Jacqueline/Caroline have their plane delayed, while the rest of the crew made it out on time. Queue Jacqueline freaking out. They make it far later than the rest of the crew, but at least the whole team is there.

The place where they are staying is amazing. Everything about this place is beautiful and makes me wish I was rich. Most of the rooms are outside and open, making everything look relaxing. Unfortunately not all of them are enjoying it. Melissa is getting sick (and on her birthday!), Caroline says they don't fit in, and Rich hates everything. I, for one, enjoy seeing Joe as close to naked as possible. It's lovely.

Am I the only one surprised that this trip is going so well? I mean I'm sure some drama will come up or else it would have been skipped for the show, but c'mon. This is very strange to see in a show where everyone hated everyone else just a few episodes ago -- and it went on for two seasons at that.

Eventually some sort of medium energy healer showed up. Yeah. Only rich people would buy into this to pay someone to come in and entertain them. And I do mean entertain, because this lady falls flat on her face for the beginning. She did two guesses, John and Maria, and nobody bit.

"It's like -- Yo Melissa, wake up. Listen to the dead people."

The spirits tell this woman that she should forgive Teresa because it was something misconstrued and blown out of proportion. She also touches on the topic of heart failure (a common killer in the US) and of course someone took the bait. I know it makes people feel better, but I can't help but feel that this is all fake. She even brings up cancer, another very common illness, and Kathy brings up her father having it. It was so sad to see her get so teared up. I love Kathy with all my heart.

Kathy, Rosie, and Teresa all sit down outside to discuss what just happened. She said that she was angry when her father passed away because her father didn't tell her she loved her before he passed away. She feels like the medium confirmed her father really did love her. She also tells Teresa she needs to show her father that her relationship with her brother is better and on the mends as a gift to keep her from feeling that pain.

Joe decides to leave sick Melissa behind to go hiking with the crew, which seems to be a bad idea. As expected, this group is nothing but a bunch of cutups and one liners. This section over all was pretty boring. Cut back to Melissa lounging out in the sun. She may be sick but at least she still looks good. I'm sure she's having a better time than the blaring heat hiking.

The hiking group has to do a zen activity in the wilderness. As the shaman lady burns sage around them, they all have to write down something on a paper something they are letting go of and burn it. Everyone has some pretty generic things they are letting go of, such as anger or putting others first.  Jacqueline vows to let go of the negativity she has towards people she's hurt, obviously being Teresa.

Then it comes to be Teresa's turn. She calls up her brother, Jacqueline, and Kathy... and then she calls up the rest of the group. Oh lord this is going to be an ordeal. She states she's so glad to be in a good place with them all. Jacqueline saw it as a good sign. The two of them go aside to talk. Jacqueline expresses she's interested in re-perusing a friendship with her and mending that bridge.

Then she makes a comment about karma affecting your kids. Next episode is going to be dramatic.
